Love your channel, I am in South America and my Himalayan was rattling through the steering head every time I hit a bump in the road. I was perplexed because it only has 9,000km of highway miles on it. I checked the chrome head bolt as you said, and it was loose. So I tightened it down and no more clunking sounds. Thanks.

Really informative. No one had explained this so clearly and a remedy for this issue. All we can see are this bike has this issue. As far as i'm concerned, we cannot directly compare the maintenance process for the himalayan with that of the other bikes as this is an ADV and it is desinged to be this way. I had the bearings adjusted by a mechanic whose is a friend of mine just the way you had explained. Keep up this great work. A big Thumbs Up from a fellow himalayan owner 👍👍

Agreed..I too just thought about people complaining about ball bearing. Its wrong. The problem is about the adjustment of the stem. I too had "himalayan issues" and i thought "ball bearings" because that's what most people say. But yesterday a local garage guy found out that it was the steering stem. It broke into two pieces. Ball bearings were just fine. And all this because of some faulty adjustment at dealer workshop.

@kevindarkstar Жыл бұрын
Technically you don't need to ride it to check it, put the bike on the main stand turn the bars left to right check for smooth movement, and then get hold of the forks legs and test for backwards and forwards play if no you've got it
@ONTWOWHEELSBEN Жыл бұрын
technically yes , but every rider likes the steering STIFFNESS/ RESISTANCE a certain way and hence it is important that you test ride.

Even after adjusting what if the bind is still there ? Does changing the stem bearing and cone set bearing will fix it ?
@ONTWOWHEELSBEN3 жыл бұрын
this video is a precaution and not a cure for dented steering races . with zero freeplay at the forks ( watch previous video ) if you still have binding , then you have already dented your stem races mostly top , sometimes even at bottom. you will have to change your bearings and races.

have you ever had this issue when taking your hands of the handlebar while driving, the motorcycle immediately start leaning to the right! Me and a couple of friends with Himalayans have this same issue and searching what could be the cause of that. I'm talking about completely new Euro5 Himalayans that have this issue from day 1.

When you say 90% service center “get the torque wrong” do you mean they put too much torque or too little?
@ONTWOWHEELSBEN3 жыл бұрын
Too much mostly. It’s best if one takes time to dial it in . Dual sport / adv motorcycles are the most misunderstood of the lot by novices . These bikes need a lot more care than street bikes .

Hitting a small pothole gives vibrations till handlebar in my himalayan . Service Centre’s recommended change of bearings and cone which are always out of stock. Will this work as a temporary fix ?
@ONTWOWHEELSBEN3 жыл бұрын
this video is preventive maintenance. also double check your bearings condition before deciding anything. take it to pro mechanic in your area and get it checked.

I had put the timson tyres , same as yours on my Himalayan , but I do mostly ride on tarmac , than off road , is it still ok to have it , or should I replace it with Apollo ? Kindly suggest ♥️
@ONTWOWHEELSBEN3 жыл бұрын
It’s a heavier tyre ( read about effects of unsprung weight ) also a off-road biased tread pattern ( increased vibrations ) . Traction is almost comparable on Tarmac and a lot better on off road terrain . So decide for yourself if you should keep it . Also Timsun TS 822 is a much better road tyre
