@@Beholder505 that is not true at all. There are many degrees of alcoholism , the kind you are referring to is EXTREME and rare. Bert is a functioning alcoholic, he literally acts like an alcoholic in every way, EXCEPT hiding drinking, he proudly states that he loves it. This is more than a character dude, sometimes when people show you who they are , you believe them, Bert is an example of that. I understand you can love alcohol and not be an alcoholic, unfortunately in my armchair opinion, he comes off as an alcoholic.

When I first started drinking, it was slow/ casual. Then, I started drinking more while gaming with friends. I got to the point where I would get off work and started shaking, so I drank as soon as I got home. I then quit my job, started drinking morning to night, and woke up in pain/shaking. I only stopped cause my doctor was like, "You aren't going to see next year." I just turned 31, I'm also going to be 3 years sober this year. I drank for 7 years, and I would say for about 5-6 of those years, I denied being an alcoholic since I could still work/function. I hope Bert realizes that even tho there are times you can go without drinking, it doesn't mean you aren't an alcoholic. Just means you are just a functioning alcoholic. I'm someone who used to be an alcoholic / addict. Like a 5th a day. Now if I ever drink I'll just have one drink. It's all about changing your way of thinking and imo aa and na and majority of main stream treatment only make your mind frame worse off. And more likely to sink totally back into addiction if you relapse. The way we treat addiction is flawed and aa and na haven't changed at all since they started in the 1920s. If you look into it as, na ONLY work for 5-10% of people.
