You feel that altruism is hard for you, and I don't want to discount that, but I hope you know that I (and probably thousands of others) consider you sharing your music knowledge, thoughts, experiences, and art with us a very powerful act of altruism.

Agreed. A pessimist would put it down as bragging, showing off, or stroking your ego. Shit, most of us tell ourselves that's what our efforts are. But it's not, the vast majority of us do it out of pure passion for the craft.

These new OP-1 vids you're making are like the originals in an alternate dimension where instead of turning our brains off and watching you make a cool tune you invite us to explore humanity. A while back you expressed that you didn't like that your channel had become the OP-1 tutorial channel (or something with that sort of sentiment), and I can honestly say these are artistically so interesting, so captivating, I can't think of another channel on YT making stuff like this. The OP-1 is just a side character now and you're taking us on such a cool journey.

Your last 3 OP-1 videos have not been instructional youtube videos. They have not been random rants into the void. They are not just creative flexes producing some novel tracks. They have been nothing less than transformative experiences that have moved me in ways I'm still trying to comprehend. You've given me hope. Thankyou Jeremy for all you do and who you are.

My family is dead. My mom was my last blood relative, I took care of her as best I could. She died of a stroke due to her cigarette smoking back in 2018. My family now are my closest friends in the Furry community. I'm honored and privileged to have some of the kindest, most thoughtful, caring, loving people in my life that I could ever ask for. The community even gave me a partner. This video really hit on the feels for me. Thank you for being so open to us. It means so much! Also so cool to see a sort of old school OP-1 video from you again! Please keep being awesome.

This is a good message to have when dealing with a birth family that focuses too much on national/religious belonging. No such thing as russian or christian blood. Not even soviet blood. I don't owe my existence to the government or church from another country. Red Means Recording. Seeing the step-by-step addition of the musical elements to this track is encouraging. It motivates to just do art despite everything because we want to. Passion is suffering for what you love. Altruism is kind of like it.

A lot of the idea of blood relatives being more important comes from the misquote of "Blood is thicker than water". However the saying is actually "The blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb." Basically means the opposite of what many people mean when they use it as a cudgel. Chosen family bonds are actually stronger than familial bonds.

I'm sad that the algorithm didn't show me this when I literally subscribed to your channel after watching one of your OP-1 videos and then binging all your other OP-1 videos at that time, and yet the only way I found out I missed one is because you mentioned it in your new one so I went back to find it.

First, cool messaging to go along with the recording process. But second, you always make this process look so dang simple… and when I try to do it, I get a drum sample in, and just sit there with a blank stare until I get up for a cup of coffee and play my guitar for the rest of the day lol

I know very little about music production, am a new viewer; something about seeing the process reminds me of watching visual artists sketching, layering, adding in an iterative process, in a way it made it easier to appreciate it, understand it. If that makes any sense? Anyways this song is stuck in my head so thanks for that!

Thanks for the message and beaming it out to your brothers and sisters in music! Definitely feeling some NIN and Garbage vibes from this track, there are some killer drum sections in there. It was really cool to see the pieces come together as you constructed the framework. Thanks for pulling back the curtain and letting us glimpse your inner thoughts once again. I do really enjoy these vids, because not only do I get to see/hear these monster tracks come together, but it also gives me things to ponder and reflect on, and ultimately creates a bond. I have known a number of friends over the years that have become family, and it is completely true that your family by blood is not always your chosen family. In a convoluted way, all of us here blur the line between friends and family in that sort of sense that usually only us weirdo music nerds with a passion for gear and sound design understand.
