Lyrics She knows the sun She knows it's there for every Every single one She knows the moon She knows where Monica lies Buried in the sand She knows the rain It brings her up and takes her down It's all the same She knows the wind It brings her up a breath and moves Her golden hands

Incredible music. Can't believe I'm just discovering this. Pre Mazzy Star. David Roback was an amazing songwriter/musician. God rest his his beautiful soul.

Sure enough, one of the most sexy and fascinating song ever... The bass, the guitar, the drums... all playing dark, formidable, body telluric vibs. And Her Voice as the Voice of a post Velvet Underground's Nightmare... A Shining, Cool Nightmare. Kendra is great.

A sonic explosion!!! Kendra and David are two magicians! And the music... more and more powerful accompanied by an enchanting hypnotic voice coming from the stars! A psychedelic gem from California of lthe late eighties. An absolute song and one of the highest points of new psychedelia!!!

This is fantastic Neo-Psyck! I remember them being "LIVE in Zurich".... fuck, they were all so drunk on stage! xD Then few years later, they came back as "Mazzy Star" and were all so sober like eerie... (Pat, Switzerland)

Opal is Opal. Mazzy Star is Mazzy Star. Their lead singers are perfect and integral in their own wise. Quit comparing apples to oranges.

LP steht bei mir noch im Schrank. Habe ich 1987 bei fairy records in Karlsruhe gekauft. Lief bei uns im Proberaum rauf und runter. War eine sehr wichtige Platte für mich.

Don't forget to check out Roback's first band, Rain Parade...but the current artist all Opal-appreciators really ought to pay attention to is Cate Le Bon. CS

Yeah I totally forgot about this for quite sometime. This is such a massively overlooked track. I could really see a vid for this being on 120 Minutes or something.

Basically anything from Opal two albums (Happy Nightmare Baby and Early Recordings). Opal singer Kendra Smith’s solo work (Kendra Smith Presents The Guild of Temporal Adventurers, and Five Ways of Disappearing). Also, the standalone album of covers (The Byrds, Bob Dylan, The Who, Neil Young, Hendrix, etc) Rainy Day recorded by Dave Roback and Kendra Smith (of Opal), Susanna Hoffs (the Bangles), and several other musicians.

@BuRiedxNxBlo0d no. Opal could've only been Opal with Kendra Smith. she wrote/played bass/sang like no other.

they both have their hands on beautiful stuff. I love Hope, but I still like to listen to kendras work from time to time. So, I'm glad I have a place for both of them, or else id be at a loss.
@jesusshootingheroin12 жыл бұрын
funny considering Sandoval followed Kendra around for years and stole her entire schtick. Plus...Kendra not only singing, she's the bass player in the band as well as being adept at playing the harmonium, the pump organ and squeezbox to name a few instruments.
@arlingtonhynes4 жыл бұрын
Kendra suggested Hope as her replacement in the band. The two were friends, I’ve read, but had very little in common as singers, writers, or performers. They both have great talent and both worked with Dave Roback - but that’s true of Eddie Kalwa, too. Do you know who that is?
@BuRiedxNxBlo0d13 жыл бұрын
I prefer Hope Sandoval better, song is good, but whould have been great with Hope on lead vocals
