Who is the young violinist? She's wonderful

2nd student: I like the musicality. Really like what I am hearing, she knows what she is doing and it is clearly aiming at what the best virtuosic players do like Vengerov very well. Just that it does sound like a copy rather than her own interpretation otherwise she would be nailing every phrase confidently and feel like she was able to finish the piece off. It does sound like a work-in-progress which will improve. It’s incredibly hard, you can be 99.9% there but it’s the musical corners where you aren’t completely in control that give away to the listener that you have practised 6 hours a day rather than 12 (like Vengerov did) in order to get that much on top of the notes. Which the very top players do to achieve absolute security. All that said, I love her dedication and I would be privileged to be able to pay and hear her play live. There is a beauty to her playing that is really interesting. Got no such talent myself but one idea from me: perhaps try establishing a posture which allow you to move around a little bit more, rather than be rooted to the spot. Notice the way that Noah is able to act out and move with the music in order to portray phrasing before it happens. It’s not bad though, she is a wonderfully dedicated player. Bravo. She makes me smile and that is her talent. ❤

1st student: Fantastic virtuosic playing by the student who has a powerful technique (and powerful instrument!). HOWEVER Noah is absolutely right…it is focus on the charm of beautiful notes and phrasing that is important because that is what the listener loves to hear: character and conversation, not brutal intensity from a series of difficult notes. Mastery of musicality with a human voice that is in control of what it wants to say is what the listener loves. Great masterclass. So friendly and interesting. One thought from me: it would be nice if she aimed to lift off in a more charming light way (better bow control needed) at the end of some the phrases rather than swooshing off with a brutal take off like a repeated slap in the face. A bit more control over acceleration and deceleration would go a long way to developing her musicality at the end of phrases. She is an amazing player though, way better than I will ever be in my whole life. ❤
