With complex rules it reminds me of Dragon poker, a game in a series of books called the myth adventures. Where there are so many rules beyond just the cards, like day of the week, time of the day, what direction your seat is facing etc.

Chinese Poker was played at the 1995 World Series of Poker and the 1996 World Series of Poker. In 1995, the $1,500 event was won by John Tsagaris, and the $5,000 event by Steve Zolotow. In 1996 the $1,500 event was won by Gregory Grivas, and the $5,000 event by Jim Feldhouse.

This was regular chinese poker, different from this game, open face chinese poker. In chinese poker you get all 13 of your cards at once, and you can set them ideally. In this game, you set 5 cards first, then one at a time.

is all chiinese poker open faced? cuz I saw a video of barry and phill playing aand it looked different is there regular Chinese poker?
@lukasrubbo67334 жыл бұрын
I was watching this and a thought to myself Barry should of up 553 middle and J9 in the back because it's easier to make a small 2 pair in the middle and hopefully get something in the back and as I'm watching .... Everything I was thinking happened only he also got quads no problemo , wow he must have watched this month's and months and years later, and must think wow I played it bad. But it takes a person like Barry to teach the game . An amateur can learn alot from watching him play #100

15:16 if Barry gets a queen in the middle, is that OK? Does 99Q83 beat 99Q, just because there are more kickers?

why at 18:16 does barry say that deeb has lots of lives. Doesnt deeb only have 2 outs, just a 6.

Seems OK, the problem is that it looks like a very high skill game and there's not much of a psychological element involved since all cards are face up and no cards are shared. It may not be solvable in a practical amount of time but its pretty clear that its not a dynamic game like NLHE/PLO which involves reading your opponent, bluffing, etc (all things that are classic elements of poker)... this game is more deterministic like chess, and for that reason I don't think it will really take off.
@johnsav1410 жыл бұрын
i agree to an extent but there is still an insanely high amount of variance in OFC, and where there's variance there are players who think they can beat limits they cant (and people who play for the risk factor) and there is money to be made, so perhaps it will become more popular.
@Stamps60010 жыл бұрын
johnsav14 Higher variance if you know how to set hands. If you cannot play it like most people with Omaha it is an easy win for math nerds. That is why Texas Hold em is so popular the math is simple and even if you're not good at math there are a limited number of possibilities. Also OFC is about to be solved if it hasn't already. It is no different than backgammon or Chess. People said ______________________ amount of moves and guess what people solved it.

donkrx ummm.. in what universe is chess solvable?

He needed to catch that 6 just to be drawing live, that is why he said it. Without catching that pair of sixes, he would have been drawing dead. Catching that 2nd 6 gave him a shot at not fouling and entering fantasy land.

26 minutes for a hand, and no money changes hands. THIS IS THE GAME FOR ME!!!
@wailandkarisma42793 жыл бұрын
Lol,.. no.. I play close hand capsa/thirteen card. Ex: 1 point is 10 euros. Beat the whole set, and that makes it 9 points X 10 euros. And thats excluding specials/combos which will boost the points up by a lot. And don't forget multiple players.
@thatgermanview57219 жыл бұрын
so pineapple was played different back then?
@MisledTrick9 жыл бұрын
+ThatGermanView No this was just regular OFC.
@Gatzby4210 жыл бұрын
Barry plays his second opening hand bad. If you go T4-83-6, you still draw for 3 pairs,but sixes give you 1 royalty point
@ne2canwin7710 жыл бұрын
Actually that was regular chinese poker, different from this game, open face chinese poker.
@dustinglasier6417 Жыл бұрын
Bruh, it's OFC. Regular Chinese poker is just one deal, 13 cards per player, set your hands and showdown.
@WISSPORTS166 жыл бұрын
I can't say OFC is for me.

@Airtrooper7199 жыл бұрын
I'd love to learn but barry is talking way too much shit that its interfering with the basics of the game so Ive learned nothing from this even though I know NLHE and PLO very very well.
