When I first heard of his appointment, I was like everyone else... "Ange who?". Then, I heard he was Australian and had most recently managed in Japan. I am from another non-traditional footballing country (USA), so that got my attention. Then, I watched a brief video of his first days on the training pitch - maybe 3 minutes. I listened to him describe his vision, pace of training, pace of play, and the manner in which he communicated with the players. At that point, I said to myself, "that's our man". I'm not a footballing savant. But I do understand what a great leader looks like. He satisfies all the criteria. Not the victory, but the action: Not the goal, but the game: In the deed, the glory. That's a flowery, 19th Century way of saying, focus on doing the next right thing. The results will take care of themselves.

@@LordLauchlan The prose quotation isn't mine. An American from my home state of Nebraska wrote it in the 1890's. The words are etched on a pillar of the state university's gridiron football stadium. The sentiment is reflective of the steadfast, pioneering spirit common to American plainsmen. I judge from the traditional spelling of your name that you are Irish. American University level sport is similar to the GAA... 100% amateur and the beating heart of the nation - far moreso than professional athletics. Frame of reference, on the off chance you're unfamiliar with that aspect of American culture. Thank you for your kind words.

Yeah I’m the same about my initial reaction. I’ve always thought that Celtic shouldn’t be put in the hands of mercenaries and that it should always be managed by Celts, as in ethnic goidelic Celts, so Scots and Irish really. That said Wim Jansen was a super consequential manager in our history and stopped them from doing the ten. But yeah it didn’t take long for Ange to win me over either. He doesn’t feel like a mercenary manager, even a bit. I’m glad that he has brought in the Japanese players too as watching Naka with his class and skill and finesse was one of the absolute highlights of my whole time watching Celtic and Kyogo is similarly elegant and makes just the smartest runs. Maeda is a tireless machine but I’m not convinced of his goalscoring prowess but he more than makes up for that with his ceaseless harassment of opposition defences. Hatate had an awesome introduction with his contributions in the 3-0 game and I don’t think I’ve even seen Ideguchi yet. Nevertheless, even though I’ve never been to Japan or anything I’ve always thought they seemed like really cool people and glad to have reforged the clubs ties with them again. Ange has been an excellent appointment really and I can’t wait to see how he fairs in the Champions League. Hopefully better than Rodgers who was domestically untouchable but made us an embarrassing whipping boy due to his stubbornness to adapt to clearly superior opponents.

Love Big Ange, as people have mentioned this is great for Scottish football, both teams have great managers, both teams are playing at their peak, there are some great players in the league from both teams. We don't realise we are living in another early 2000s era for Scottish football long may it continue.

@@unclesnakehips6810 Always spoke highly of him actually, having known him and his wife Marieke from my time working in the Malmaison from 1999-2001. They used to come in with Henrik (God) and his wife Magdalena on a regular basis, as they were very close Friends. I even have a picture with Gio, Henrik, Regi Blinker, Bobby Petta, Michael Mols, Ronald de Boer and Arthur Numan from Christmas 2000, who all enjoyed a Lads night out together as friends...not enemies! Yes, including the Scottish OF players too, a great tradition which has, and always will go on. Don't allow my critique of everything else relating to the Govan Bigots cloud things! 😎😂 If people want to act like the proverbial snowflakes ❄and get all bent out of shape by my mere satirical chat/banter (the same people that like to give it out) then that's their own issue entirely!

@@leannecampbell4551 If you die believing Henrik is God, what hope does your soul have? Henrik did not give his life and soul as a sacrifice for your or my sins. Henrik is a sinner just like the rest of us. Footballing talent means nothing in relation to our soul. Have the intelligence to separate the two, I love Celtic, I love football, I respect players, etc but when it comes to God I don't act like a little fool and idolise people who are human just like the rest of is who have no idea how to get to heaven on our own. The real God who created us all, who gave us all life and different talents and skills, he is very real and he gave us a blueprint to get to heaven. It involves believing in his one and only son Jesus Christ, who died in our place for our sins. Jesus is the only way to heaven, there is no other way. Idolising people is breaking one of God's commandments which makes me saying someone I love is God. Not only false but foolish for if I acknowledge God then I should also have the integrity to acknowledge his word and what he is about. His word says don't follow or worship idols. Do not create false God's.. we are guilty of this. We are in love with creation and its fruit and yet so few are in love or even care about the creator.. ut is ludicrous for the same people to then believe they go to heaven. That makes no sense, God has told us how to get there and if we don't do it his way, only hell is left. We can make up our own God's all we like that accept sin and forgive everything and don't punish anyone. But that God is fake, only exists in our head, never created the heavens and the earth. And leads to hell. Only the God of the Bible leads to eternal life.

How could you not like this guy what an insight into a real Intelligent football brain. I used to think managers had to be annomated to get the players up for it but this guy has gave me a total different perspective 🙏💚 and Simon Ferry is an amazing guy tay met him and spoke to him about my recovery he was generally interested and spoke to me like a was one of his mates with no judgement 👌
