In this video, I'll show you how I built my wooden keyboard/keypad/macro pad. It is an open-source project, so you can download and edit whatever you want.
The video was created with the cooperation of:

LaserPacker: www.laserpecke...
Project details: smartsolutions...
How to program STM32?: smartsolutions...

This channel is one of the best elelctronics/DIY channels on this page. Amazingly detailed projects with lots of work put into them instead of useless short lived stuff just to make content. Here, the project is the star. And then there's even source files?? Dude, you're amazing!

I Really enjoyed your project. I once heard someone say, "Why Buy Something when you can spend 3 times as much making it yourself" hehe. I enjoyed your sense of Humour! Keep it up, I'll be using this project as a basic guideline for my own Ideas, Which often are above my Pay grade. Nice to have these cutting edge tools too.

You're definitely an introvert like me. I find myself deep into whatever I'm working on and when someone disrupt me, I have no way of getting back to that work again. So If I have something going on that i would need to finish, no one, I mean not a single person or event should ever disrupt me or else I would procrastinate for days.. Anyway, I wish I could replicate your project to help me work even faster because I am currently bombarded with lots of task and I can't keep up anymore. I feel like quitting these days. I don't "alone time" anymore and that drains me BIG TIME.

Respect, I admire your skills and great representation. For years I've been thinking about an input tool like this for SolidWorks and Fusion 360 instead of a 3DConnection mouse. They are all beyond my financial reach. Since I would like to have an illuminated font, my question is - could the font be completely lasered and poured with clear transparent resin?

@@SmartSolutionsForHome 😊😉😁 I wanted something like this for myself (I do a little video editing here and there), but a commercial unit is too expensive, and I didn't even know where to start if I wanted to build my own. So I really enjoyed your video! If ever I have the time, I'll revisited your video and build my own 😁

Classic or modern ? I like both of them but it seems the buttons on the classic one are a bit too much "floating" for my liking. Too much space between them or a bit out of line? I'm not sure, maybe it is just that the plastic of the keys shows a bit too much - something that would be easy to fix though. I started a similar project a few years ago with one of those (optical) CNC jog wheels. At first I did not like the clicky feeling of the detents but when I swapped this for one with a smooth wheel, I immediately loved the clicky style. It gives me a much better control when scrolling frame by frame so this is my personal preference.

I'm glad you like my video! If you are just starting your adventure with video editing, you don't need to invest in additional hardware. Learn the keyboard shortcuts well instead. After a while you'll decide for yourself whether you need extra keyboard to help.

awesome keyboard. Was about to design my own but might just use this one ;) One thing I would do differently is the firmware. If you use QMK and ad VIA support you can easily remap the buttons with a nice gui software (VIA) but that's personal preference. Great project and video 👍

My Knob isn't quite working like in the original Speed Editor. In JOG mode, it acts as the RIGHT/LEFT Arrow (1 frame), and in SCRL mode, it's Shift + RIGHT/LEFT Arrow (1 second). The SHTL mode is a bit more complicated. Here, I had to create a separate function that monitors the current acceleration level and responds to the next "tick" accordingly. You can find the entire code on my GitHub: github.com/sokolsok/SS4H-Video-Editing-Keyboard P.S. Thanks for the comment :)
