Second, take AlphaGO as an example, you might think it is boring to watch AI vs AI in a GO game, but there are a lots of people pay attention to their match record because they can learn a lot from it, especially in the competitive scene.

Some restrictions, in particular wards and Roshan, are central components of professional-level play. We’re working to add these as soon as possible." As the capabilities of the bot increase these restrictions will be lifted.

It's pretty dumb to compare this type of AI to Dota 1 bots. The AI in Dota 1 Maps are programmed by human mapmakers which makes them behave in very specific ways. The way they move, the way they last hit or deny and the way they itemize are all pre-programmed. In other words, the skill level of these AI are definite and are easily beatable when a human learns to play better than them and sometimes exploits flaws on how the AI was programmed. OpenAI learns Dota 2 through neural learning which basically means with parameters, they learn to play the game from scratch through thousands upon thousands of games with itself in a terrifying short amount of time. OpenAI progressively gets better at the game. That's the fucking point man, and at a pace unmatched by any pro-player who has ever lived. It's not a question of "Can they beat 5.5-6k players or not?" but by "How long will it take before they can? This type of technology is already bettering humans in a lot of fields, including games. It is not far-fetched to truly have Dota 2 conquered by AI in the near future.

Exactly, this is super exciting. Sure there are parameters but changing from 1v1 to actual dota is massive. I hope to vs these bots in the future to see the difference. In addition Open-AI could replace players who abandon matches relative to the players MMR. I know some people that mostly vs. bots and that having more structural game play would be amazing. Hell, theoretically I could practise the first 10 minutes of my laning in realistic environment. Lane pressure, varied match ups and gank potential. I can't wait!

You can just argue that human team lost because lack of skills (tho, that's actually true lol) because they were under 5-6k mmr; if we consider the 1v1 SF bot as an early version of this one, it already beat almost all 8-9k mmr superstars players.
