I'm so sorry for your loss, Shell. It's lovely that Beryl's fabrics can start a new journey, which in a way keeps her memory alive and I know Annie will make good use of them ❤

First: my deepest condolences to Shell at the loss of her MIL, Beryl. Annie, you make me chuckle with your "goosies" and your dribbles! What an absolutely beautiful load of stunning fabrics! How kind of Shell to think of you! I enjoyed your enthusiasm, darling. It was almost cognitive overload. An enormously generous gift that I know you will put to good use. Looking forward to seeing what you create. Much love & bless, dear friend xoxo

Yes indeed! I can make some beautiful things with all of these pieces - I think I feel a full size kawandi coming on, with larger coordinating pieces as the backing, I really want to make something Beryl would have approved of :) Some of them will end up in my Vintage Stitchery too, and I can add her name in there for posterity, I like that idea :)

Sincere condolences to Shell and her family. And I know you will honour and enjoy the lovely gift from Shell, carrying on the legacy of Beryl. I think that’s why I love using second hand items (beyond the environmental benefits) - you feel connected to others and there’s a sense of honouring them in the joy you create when using what they had. Cheers, Christine 💙🧵🪡

ABsolutely, you've summed up just how I feel about it Christine - you and I both enjoy using vintage and pre-loved supplies don't we and I very much feel that you connect with the person whose hands held them or worked on them before you - and I hope one day others will enjoy whatever I don't get time to use, or maybe repurpose my stitcheries, that is a very comforting thought to me, maybe I'm weird though :)

Sad to hear of your loss Shell, and how generous to gift this wonderful collection of Beryl's fabrics to Annie. As you said Annie, there is such a wide range of fabrics and colour that you'll never be short of inspiration. I had to stop eating my tea when you sped up the video as I didn't want to miss any of the fabrics 😂

Yes, condolences to Shell and her family. I can definitely see "Beryl's Kawandi" being made out of this treasure trove. 😊Beryl obviously had a deep stash. I even recognize a few of the prints from my own stash. I absolutely agree with you about feeling connection between stitchers of all the generations. I've felt compelled to buy certain pieces of embroidery just to make sure it's preserved and honored for a while longer. Now I'm trying to incorporate the work of previous generations in my own work for that very reason.

Shell so sorry for the passing of your MIL -Beryl. What an amazing eye for fabrics she had. Annie you had me tearing up with your gratefulness. I recognized 2-3 fabrics I had and still have small scrapes of from the late 1980's in California when I did traditional quilting. So glad Shell sent these to you.! ! !

It did make me feel very emotional going through Beryl's wonderful collection, I really feel connected with someone when I hold pieces of fabric they've treasured, or stitched into, I feel so fortunate to have these and I know they will inspired many projects. Some of them may even get passed on again one day, along with my own collection, I love that sense of continuity :)

Such a glorious collection, I could see a few different quilts there, and other projects. So nice to pass on special collections to another’s home for safe keeping. Yes, inspiration abounds, now I want to go play in my stash again.

I love to see how excited you get when you get a package. You are like a little kid with a new toy. I understand because every time a buy a new package of fabric from the thrift store I can’t wait to get home to see what I got. I have more fabric than I can ever use but I still get enjoyment from getting it out and looking at it and sometimes even organizing it.

Wow! What an amazing and beautiful stash of fabrics! How wonderful of your friend to gift these to you. I'm sure her mother-in-law would be pleased with your genuine heartfelt gratitude. It was so much fun to watch your excitement with each piece and how carefully you placed each one in the pile. Almost as though you were preparing them for stitching💕💕. I drooled and oohed and ahhed as you unveiled each yummy piece along with you. Thank you so much for sharing with us🥰♥️. I appreciate so much your joyful, infectious spirit - always so pleasant and uplifting💞

Thank you so much for your lovely comment - sorry I'm very behind in answering comments, but I always love to read them. Yes I feel very lucky to have these beautiful pieces and I've already started using them in several different projects. I love the idea that one day someone will enjoy using the stash I've accumulated in the same way, it gives a real sense of continuity doesn't it? :)

I honestly have never seen that many beautiful fabrics outside of Joann (which is a fabric and crafts store here in the U.S.). That is absolutely wonderful! Beryl is grinning ear to ear to see your face, wherever she is. (This, too, is why I'm always going on about how important it is to sign/date your work in some way. You never know where your art may end up.)

Absolutely, I feel very fortunate indeed. It is sad that Beryl didn't get to create everything she had planned - I think most of us are the same, I know I am - I have so many projects I want to do and more keep appearing on the list, so I will probably never finish them all. I'm sure that Beryl's collection of gorgeous fabrics gave her joy, they are certainly inspiring lots of ideas for me now and one day some of them may end up in the hands of other stitchers who come after me - I love that sense of continuity, and the way I can almost feel the hands of earlier stitchers when I'm working with vintage fabrics, threads and stitchery, I just love that :)

Hi Annie, I'm so glad I sent these to you 😊 I bet I know what you were doing for the rest of that day 😂 Sorry about the pin, I didn't realise a hitch hiker had been left attached 😅 You looked so completely happy with your new stash, I really hope I managed to pick the right colours for you, it was tricky with so much to hunt through. I'm loving the quilting with the colours of the weather idea, that would be a beautiful keepsake quilt. Being a hoarder and Beryl's home being stacked floor to ceiling (every room, not kidding) with their vast hobby stash it's been a real roller coaster of emotions sorting everything out, we're slowly getting there. The material I sent you is a tiny percentage. My sister-in-laws picked first, then i did. Then it went to my patchwork group where loads was taken raising funds for charity. You've had a big box and there is still loads left, plus plenty of rolls of upholstery fabrics. Beryl mainly shopped in John Lewis or other quality places so it's all really good stuff. We have a charity near us that takes hobby stuff and gardening stuff for an African project so the remainder will find it's way there now. I wanted you to have a collection as you're so inspiring with your fabulous videos which have helped me so much. Beryl liked helping others and I knew this gift would reach widely with you channel 😊 My in-laws were amazing people and I was privileged to call them not just my family but also some of my best friends, we miss them so much everyday. This stash found it's perfect home with you, enjoy xx

Oh Shell thank you so much, I can't describe how thrilled I am to adopt this amazing collection and how many ideas it has sparked already! Yes you're right, I had a lovely time going back through all of the pieces after I finished filming. I've pulled out a few to use little pieces of in my Vintage Stitchery, and Beryl's name will be embroidered in there (along with the pin!). There is so much and I love every piece - they will be bringing me joy for a long time to come :) I can imagine what a mammoth task this has been for you, exhausting physically and emotionally I bet, but it's wonderful that you and your SiL have some to keep and the rest going to worthy causes - you've done an amazing job of sharing Beryl's legacy and honouring her memory. I hope you will also find joy in working with some of her beautiful collection xo

Thank you Annie for your video and Shell I am so sorry for your loss of Beryl. What a beautiful gift you have passed on. Annie your excitement is palpable and what an array of gorgeous fabric. My computer has given up the ghost so I have rebooted my Kindle, much smaller screen but can still see the vibrant colours and patterns. Sadly this device will not play nicely with discord.🤔

It's a beautiful collection isn't it, I feel so fortunate and I will very much enjoy using these fabrics. It's wonderful how you can almost "feel" the hands of the stitcher who collected them, I think you can see someone's personality in their collections don't you? I'm sure one day someone will be enjoying my own treasured pieces and I love that idea - my craft room actually gets a special mention in my will!! :)
