Nice! I would hit lefty in wiffleball sometimes when I really needed to hit a ball to right field because I had a severe pull when hitting lefty. And that’s all I could do on that side of the plate.

I respect this opinion, and I appreciate the way you brought it up. I have talked about this before, and I think the bad reputation is because of breaks and the way they have handled some breaks situations in the past. I think they’re getting better, but I also don’t promote breaks because I don’t do them and don’t like them myself. I think Whatnot is a good platform to buy and sell singles, and I don’t believe there have been any issues with that side of the platform but am open to feedback on that.

⁠@@JunkWaxHeroAppreciate the response. It’s too bad that single shows are all mixed in with breakers and carnival games, and there is no way to know the honest from the shady. I consume your content for free, so I realize there needs to be alternate funding streams, so I understand your position. But let’s recognize what’s happening. Whatnot has difficulty retaining customers because *most* of them ultimately have a bad experience, or at a minimum, have lost too much money. So they buy their way into content creators, to keep the churn of fresh meat going. It’s their revenue model, otherwise they wouldn’t pay you to bring more new customers in the door. Point me to a popular content creator whose primary purchase conduit is Whatnot. There are none. The only people cheering on Whatnot are sellers and content creators, not customers. Why is that? I see tons of folks that have content about buying from stores, shows, eBay, auction houses, flea markets. Nobody does content about buying on Whatnot, only selling, and drawing in more new marks. And look what happened here. You had nothing to sell, but you had an audience, so they GAVE you inventory to lure your followers in.

Yeah I totally get this criticism. I will say, though, that I have done a couple of buying-only videos about Whatnot. It wasn’t until I needed to sell off some cards to fund my National trip that I started exploring selling and found it to be quite easy and they wanted to sponsor me for that. They have wanted to sponsor me for more, but I have limited my exposure for various reasons. One is that I don’t do this for the money. The money is nice, for sure, but I don’t want to be The Whatnot Guy, and I don’t want to have sponsorships that don’t make sense for me and my audience. And I really do think Whatnot is a good platform for buying and selling singles. So an occasional video makes sense. I love vintage baseball so that makes sense for me. They asked me to do a video where I buy some vintage and then do the sale, but I was too busy this month to go out and buy (it’s more work than you’d think!). So they offered to do this mystery box idea and I liked it. They asked me to promote breaks a while back and I told them I wouldn’t and they never asked me again. They get me and my audience. I receive a fair number of offers for sponsorships and the vast majority of them make no sense and they’ve obviously never watched my videos. Not the case with Whatnot. Again, I appreciate your approach and professionalism. Sorry for the delay in my response. Your reply was not showing up anywhere.
