The question you always wondered: how an Amethyst Geode transforms into a Citrine?
We asked a friend to show us the process, from cutting open the geode till the Heat Treating process. It's surreal!

The E2D Ethical Mission: It's been a long journey to bring you the best quality Minerals and Crystals from Brazil while making sure that every item we sell is ethically sourced. We proudly announce that all the Crystals and Minerals we showcase here were sourced from only small miners and lapidaries. This allows them to have better selling prices, leading the path for the development of the whole supply chain, especially for the ones who need more, the miners.

Don't call it citrine when its just amethyst. Ruined amethyst.

Scientifically speaking, it's now citrine on a chemical spectrum. On a spiritual spectrum, It works better than natural citrine for attracting wealth.

You do realize citrine is related to amethyst and it is believed that most if not all natural citrine is just Earth naturally heated amethyst. Same with prasiolite..

@Chuck Norris maybe related but not the same. We are also related to gorillas but we are not gorillas. Its the same thing. And no citrine is not headed amethist in the earth. It wont get that hot in that depth that amethist and citrine grows.

@Mandy Maessen - van de Laar other factors come into play, including the amount of iron they sustain under the ground. I think a better difference between the two would-be potatoes and french fries.

It's still amethyst, just a different color. It does not change into citrine by heating it, only the color changes. Natural citrine does not even grow in geodes like amethyst does, and the process through wich natural citrine is created is different from amethyst.

Different forms of seeing it, but technically it is citrine, as per its composition and color characteristics :) anyway, gorgeous! ❤️

@E2DCrystals no its not. Definitely not technical. It grows in a different form so not to the composition, the collor is not the same. You can't trow a patato in the fire and call it a lemon. Burnt amethist is en will never be citrine. Its just a nasty way of making money to sell it as citrine.

Fun fact! Amethyst chemical formula: SiO2 Citrine Chemical formula: SiO2 How are they made? Amethyst: the inclusion of Fe (Iron) into the stone Citrine: The inclusion of Fe (iron) into the stone + heat That is how natural Citrine is formed Though i get what you're saying, i'm kind of the same way myself. But the main reason for my looking up this video, is for potentially making an ametrine cathedral. I've been into geology for many years, and i have displays ready to go for any rock and gem show that may need a quick display. I have an amethyst display with a cathedral ready to go, and i just got a citrine cathedral with the plan to make a citrine display. After i finish my citrine display i may make a small ametrine display to put between them; should i display all three anyway.

@@pkejesusfreak I would, lab made or not a good mineral is a good mineral :) I am a geology student myself so regardless of what it is i think all minerals are cool asf man made or not, just all i request is that unlike these people who try to sell it and misinform people which is honestly my only hate here above all i am a scientist and i hate when people lie about science, dont misinform people please, especially with how rare wild citrine is considering most grows in hot water streams.

@@minichese9043 I have a bachelor's in geology :). I get what you're saying, I avoid manmade material such as bismuth (which does look cool but still..). I'm also iffy on editing good material such as amethyst, but seeing as an ametrine cathedral would be next to impossible to find let alone buy..... There is also a difference between fake and man-made materials. Something like dyed quartz made to look like amethyst, citrine, smoky, etc would be fake. What this person is doing, is using what they know to turn amethyst into manmade citrine. Is it citrine? Yes. Is it as valuable as natural citrine? No. I don't like people lying about their material either; my mom bought some sapphires and didn't see that they were "filled". Well I tested them and not only were they filled, they also were fake....

@@minichese9043 on a very separate note..... While I was in college I did research with one of my professors; this resulted in a published paper. This is really cool, and I don't regret doing it. However, I ended up not doing any internships, which has really hurt me in the long run. Just a piece of advice.... Get those internships in... Good luck on your studies!

Hi Steph! :) so, the dragon tooth is still a challenge. We are able to make it into a Citrine but the quartz gets shattered. We need more time and tests to get it the right way :)

@@mandymaessen-vandelaar2404with that logic in mind, will you call a lab created amethyst as amethyst? Cuz it's like throwing bunch of shitz into the water and call it amethys once it solidified.

It's both quartz but because of iron and mangaan it gets purple (amethyst) and because of aluminum. Amethyst grows in geods and citrine in cluster. Tje basic is the same yes. But you can say a lemon and an orage are the same because they're both citrus fruits. But its 2 different kind of fruits and its the same with amethist and citrine. Amethyst will never be citrine. Not even the color will be the same. Citrine is even in color, burned/heated amethist is not even and has different collors (from dark orange to transparent) al in 1 stone. So no it will neverbe the same.

Thats not citrine at all... its still amethyst. You dont add heat and get a new mineral...you alter the color...thats it. All you're doing is misinforming the world via youtube. Dont water down the information man. Be better than that. Im sure you do this for a living considering what we see in the videos. Its a shame you take advantage of people like that. Be better. Real citrine is quite rare. This is just an imitation as best.
