Luca isn't far off in his comment about Italy. The Italian/Alps leagues are decent but homegrown talent needs some improvement.

At this point, from a sporting perspective at least, they should do like the top Slovenian and Croatian club and a couple of Hungarian teams, and just join the Austrian league to have any realistic chance of development. Even the Swiss second division would make more sense.
