If you were ask me whether to open this or not, I’d tell you to keep it packaged. It is too rare and too cool to open. And because of that, I’ll open mine because that’s my job. Enjoy.

People just buy the tomcia one. It's cheaper and more accurate

There’s a few things about this model that bother me, especially since it’s really overpriced now. -wrong wheels -only one interior seat -the artwork shows the 86 from the early seasons but the model is clearly the Project D version. -proportions are weird; back window is huge and way too close to the wheels, creating awkward proportions. I hope there’ll be far better models down the line. The mainline cast from the show is represented by Hot Wheels at this point, save for outliers.

Just my opinion, the AE86 from Tomica - Tomica Dream is more realistic & legit, they even have two version of it, one is Takumi AE86 from stage 1 (full stock no carbon hood) and the other one is after Takumi join Project D (with carbon hood), the doors can open too. Once u had it u won't regret.

Love how hotwheels dipped its toes into initial d! I personally like the card art better than the casting. Too bad its so exclusive, otherwise i’d definitely pick it off the pegs in a heartbeat! I also think the wheels on the japan historics 3 skyline rs would’ve made better watanabes, just make them black instead.

$400 for a 1:64 scale?! I’d spent that on a 1:18 scale AutoArt AE86 instead. I just wish that Hotwheels can make all InitialD cars as a set! That would be awesome!! They have the tooling for em so why not make em?

That particular car WITHOUT the Watanabe styled wheels makes it NOT WORTH that type of money... any TRUE Initial D fan would agree!

I have the full initial D set from Jada Toys released back in 2004. It was actually the only die cast toys I collected til 2017. It included the 86, the fc, the fd, the sil80, and the Evo. Also, go watch in Hulu!

You will go down in history as a legend for this alone! No man should ever have to make such a sacrifice!

As soon as that AE86 with the headlights popped up was released, I knew it was gonna be in Initial D livery at some point. I’m just surprised at how limited it is.

You should totally start cutting the blister instead of ripping it to preserve that cardwork I do that with all my premiums 😀

they do have the 8 spoke wheels in a small size. they were used on the classic batmobile premium.

Tip for the future , put 94% alcohol on the back of the cardboard where the glue is and it will pop off . After that u can just glue it back together with paper glue .

I've cracked $40,000 hot wheels, albeit when i was a kid and they were only a quarter and now go for many thousands of $$$ and it doesn't feel any different than cracking a $1 car. the excitement of cracking cars as a child can not be duplicated. and i think that's what everybody that opens cars are trying to repeat.

$450 for a Hot Wheels? I think you could get a decent rc version for that price.

Pretty sure Hot Wheels has had a Real Rider 8-spoke wheel design extremely reminicent of the Watanabes since at least 2011... They're on the Ford Rally Team Set, on both Escorts and the Supervan.

those wheels are SSR Longchamps. if you didn't like watanabes, you got the Longchamps. you would remove the middle hub caps because ppl would steal them in Japan

I definitely would have cut it free instead of ripping the card art, but that's me. Honestly this is probably the best limited exclusive. One had to get every rereleased Initial D manga volume and keep the coupons to redeem to get this. As a fan of one of the best animes ever made; I hope this gets rereleased someday. Probably without the Fujiwara Tofu shop sign on the side. There is ZERO reason why Hot Wheels can't release a pseudo Initial D set. The cars without the decals. We know what they are.

After years of experience, these rares later maybe issue in bulk for general public, with discount also not many want, may be play out again base on history like other toy lines

Mattel should have used the 8 spoke Panasport-style wheels that are on numerous premium castings, from the Real Riders 510 to the Forza Alfa GTV to the Fast & Furious Escort. Basically the exact same design as Watanabe RS-8's as available optionally on the AE86 in period in Japan, and as depicted in the anime, manga and even the live action movie. Oh well...

There is a ton of other options you can buy from any other brands… Anyways support
