We rotated out "Rakkasans" in 2017-2018. 2-501 1st BCT "Geronimo" 82nd ABN. Being out 17-20 days and back at JBAD for 2 days to love the 24hr sandwitch bar

I was there 26 December 2011 until 30 June 2014. Worked at the 401st RPAT. I miss it! That rolling gated fence wasn't there when I was there near the memorial. I miss the DFAC. Spent a lot of time at the smoke pit too. Went through 2 V-BED suicide attacks at the gate, countless IDF attacks. One night we got hit around 1900 hours with 24 mortars just as I was getting off work. Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom! One right after the other right on top of us. I was hugged up against the concrete blocked perimeter fence laying down on the ground trying to make our way to the bunker. A Molson Air Helicopter got destroyed on the Airfield. Crazy times! Not long before before I left the Afghan hajis opened up a pizza shop near to where I worked. Best darn food on the base outside of the DFAC. Miss the RIP IT energy drinks.

​@@brandonsavitski Good times man, We could of walked right passed eachother bc I was there in feb of 2014. Did a ton of patrols in the area and got to see a lot. I wen to that pizza shop you talk about! They had some great pizza too.

@@cameronmueller Small world. I'm sure we crossed paths at some point. The FOB was actually relatively small. I worked at the RPAT yard by the maintenance shop on the MRAPS, etc. More on the East side of the base right near the pizza shop and the Afghani shops set up against the perimeter. Used to go to that gym all the time in this video. Lived in the B-HUTS right there on the perimeter road. I was there February 2014. RPAT was closing down there a few months later and I got transferred to BAF to finish my time out in Afghanistan.

Damn I left there March 2014 and I used to fuel the molson copters one day they took us on a ride over the villages also got rocket attacked while fueling one on the airline...ran the fastest I ever have to a bunker.....good times
