Pack a full box! Operation Christmas Child is encouraging us to pack full boxes! Remember, one box - per child - per lifetime! Make it FULL of joy for a child! The more full they are, the less we will have to rely on filler! This box is for a Boy 10 - 14. This age range is always low in boxes so I encourage you to pack for them and imagine the impact you can have on a young boys' life!

I love packing for the 10-14 year olds. I don't do themes but have a list of items I like to include in each box. I've had a great week shopping but it was mostly for my 2-4 boxes which I love too. A sweet friend gave me cash & I won $100 which I immediately declared was OCC money!

Wow! You had a great week! And how nice of your friend to contribute. 💕 i had a good week shopping too! Found socks and underwear for $1 at Walmart. I also love packing for the older kids. I actually don’t do a lot of themes for the older kids. Most themes are for the younger ones. I love to pack 3 or 4 boxes at a time for the older boys and girls. I just line them up and pack away!!!! Ohh Denise I knew boxes didn’t always come full but never imagined people send just a few items. That makes me feel sad. I’m so much more inclined to send as much filler as I can seeing this video. On to the box! I love it! Turtles are such a fun theme! You are great at drawing, the lid looks great. The plush is very cute and it looks so soft. Great lego set for an older boy. I never saw that notebook but I love it! I would definitely pay 1.25 for that. I’ll be unboxing a girl turtle box that I never finished last year but I think the only similarity may be the coloring book! Too bad we didn’t connect and collaborate on this theme! Such an amazing box full of goodies. Thanks for putting the empty boxes into perspective. I seriously would never believe boxes lacking so much get turned in. Definitely not judging anyone but it does solidify the importance of fillers. I’m really going to try and let go of leftover themed items for filler this year. TFS my friend!

Another collaboration missed. Maybe we should chat! Yes, it’s hard to process when we get batches and batches of these half empty boxes. I don’t know where the problem stems but I can only help by educating and awareness. Yes, until we remedy the issue, filler is so helpful. I’m trying to pack up all extras I don’t pack for filler as I go this year! Thanks for watching my Sea Turtle themed box! I hope this young boy loves it! 💚

You’ve definitely inspired me to do pencil packs! I took all my bags out so I’m on to step one, I never seem to get to the rest of the steps though 🤣🤣

What a cool turtle stuffy! Love him! Wow, never saw that beautiful, spiral notebook at DT. If I had you could be assured I would have snatched it up, too, as I am collecting for a girl’s sea turtle box (for next year). Perfect building blocks kit. I really love the jewelry pieces you chose for him, too. There are so many fantastic items in this box for a 10-14-year-old boy to get excited about. Amazing box, Denise!! 💚

I forgot to mention the Legos were from Dollar General! Very cool set! And that composition book… right? So pretty! I got it a while ago. Great find! Oh a girls turtle box would be so pretty! What a great theme! Oh how l love sea turtles and you found such great items. The notebook is perfect and l love the plush turtle. Nice that you included accessories since boys do enjoy them too. You're rockin' and rollin' with your packing this year. I feel like l'm moving along like a slow turtle. 😂 🐢

Such an awesome full box. Most of mine do not have a theme. But, usually require at least 1 rubber band, most need 2. We make sure they are full.

I was critical one time of a shoebox that was in a clear plastic tote with only one item in it. I wasn’t an OCC volunteer then and was dropping off some shoeboxes we packed. I commented to the lady, that was taking my shoebox, how sad it was that it only had one item. She informed me it was from a child and that was all they could afford but wanted to be a blessing to another child anyway in their own small way. I felt ashamed for being critical. I now am the team leader at my church and try to be appreciative of each and every box that comes in. Of course it’s mostly adults with full boxes that we receive boxes from, thankfully. But I would graciously accept any box no matter how full or empty it seemed to be. Just wanted to pass this on because some folks might not be able to afford much but want to help bless a child anyway. Also why I understand the necessity of filler items! I’m trying to have extra things this year just for that purpose! Even asked the lady who brought in lots of fidget toys for our packing party if she minded any extras going for filler (she brought in a tote full of them from the store she works at) and she was fine with that.

Yes, I’m sure this happens and it is all some can give so filler is so important! Thank you for sharing your story! I think the goal of OCC is to encourage full boxes as much as possible. “Possible” is the key word. It’s just not always possible and the gift although small was given with just as much love as a full one. I think the bigger problem is not one or two boxes here or there but cases of boxes with the same three or four items in them. Boy, it’s hard to fill those. We must all pray about it and I can only hope education will help in some of those cases. God bless your work as your church Project Leader. Your role is the heart of OCC! 💕

Fantastic box! I know it’s sad to see half empty boxes, but I have to remind myself that maybe that’s all the packer could afford. Love the plushie and Lego set. Those were good finds. We can get wooden puzzles like the one you have here in Canada at Dollarama, but we have the same issue of needing a bigger box to put them in.

Yes, it’s tricky with those puzzles. Yes, I agree… sometimes maybe that’s all the packer had. I don’t think OCC is concerned about those instances. It’s the cases of empty boxes from groups. And when you hit several cases of those… oh boy… that’s rough. Still all the more reason to keep sending filler if we can. Thanks for watching Nicole! 🥰

This box is wonderful, Denise ! I can tell you put so much thought into it. You have so many little treasures throughout which I love to do that too ! I chuckled when I saw that wooden turtle. About 5 years ago, we went to a discount store and scored about 100 of those. They originally were at Target. They were .25 each. My husband and I punched them out and put them in a baggie with a picture and I sent them for filler. There were about 5 different animals. I thought we would never finish. I know some little guy is going to be thrilled !!!

What a fun box. When my nephew was little he loved hot wheels and legos. Your box reminded me of many fun times he wanted me to get in the floor and watch him play. The recipient will love this special box of wows.

Thanks Rachel! Oh that sounds so sweet with your nephew! Hot wheels and legos always seem to be a big hit! When I taught preschool I had a hard time pulling the kids …esp the boys away from the Lego table! 😂

This was a great box. Love the sea turtle theme. The animal planet legos were really cool. I too found a lot of half full boxes when I worked the processing center. Besides pencil packs , I’m trying to doing some filler for the 2-4 age group. We really only had stuffie for that age group when I worked and it was so sad to put very large socks and tshirts to fill them. Thanks for sharing all that you do.

Your experience at the processing center is common unfortunately. It frustrates me when I can’t fill a box with appropriate filler. I saw the cutest and most simple idea for 2-4 filler at the PC but it went sooooo fast. Very small baggies with 2 hot wheels, a whistle, another small toy and stickers! It was just what I needed for a few 2-4 boxes! I’m going to create some this year. Also I’ll be doing some playdough sets. Thanks for doing filler for the 2-4 this year! It will really bless a box!

I love, love that sea turtle notebook and large sea turtle! I have admit that I'm more of a box stuffer.I'm going to work on that because I know it's now fair for one child to get a packed box, and others don't. I'm going to be packing a sea turtle theme for a girl with a 14" doll dressed in a sea turtle outfit😊 Some of my school packs will include small plush, lego animals, flying disc and Matchbox cars to help with the minimalist boxes. Thank you for mentioning the companies that you have bought things from, some I have heard of before ❤

I’m a box stuffer too but I’m trying, unsuccessfully I’ll add, to make them less puffy. lol. But puffy can be great too! A doll dressed in a sea turtle out sounds adorable! Your pencil/school packs sound awesome too! I love getting creative with those! Adding Lego animals is a great idea! I might have to get some of those! I saw a good deal at Valentine’s Day on Amazon but didn’t bite on it. I might have to reconsider. Thanks for watching and commenting Patricia! 🙂

Thank you for an actual visual of the half empty box. So sad. Couldn’t you educate churches who donate? You would be a great speaker. Sea turtles are wonderful. I will be working on a couple for the toddler boys. The prang pencils are a great gift.

Thanks Maritza! I have ACTUAL pics but I didn’t want to show someone’s real box. Yes, I believe much of this could be handled at the church level and packing parties. I have actually been a speaker at our regional church project leader meeting! But it’s such a bigger issue. I think that’s why they are emphasizing full, fun and personal everywhere! Awww sea turtles for the 2-4 boys will be adorable!!!!!!

I LOVE this box! My favorite things are the shiny stuffy and legos. Also, the notebook and colored pencils. I haven’t had the opportunity to serve at one of the processing centers yet, but watching the videos about so many of the boxes being half full or less, has spurred me to collect so much filler this year! Keep up the great work, Denise! Also can’t seem to help over stuffing my boxes.

Also I have a question and I’m not sure how to ask you directly. I’ve accumulated quite a large amount of items this year so far. What my question is, do you think it is better to keep packing these items in boxes or to just send all of these things as filler I have about 13 boxes of which most are almost complete. 0:02

Operation Christmas Child prefers boxes. That being said, if you know you won’t be able to pack it up this year, then I would definitely send it in for filler. Hope that helps! 😊

Very nice box! Cool theme. I don’t do themes exactly; just try to match up a couple things in my boxes. I am so glad there is a new bigger Dollar Tree only 20 miles from me! (Yup, I live in the boonies) I am working on getting things to send as filler; so sad that boxes come through half full. I pack a bunch of school supplies in my boxes too. I blame you for my eraser obsession-LOL. Thank you for your inspirations. I appreciate you.

Sea turtle theme fun. You found lots of fun items for this young man. . You do a great job for this age /gender. So many people say it's hard to pack for the 10-14 boys. You sure make it look easy. I'm also including the full 36 count colored pencils in my 10-14 girls and boy boxes this year. I do think it will wow them. I love that you have multiple wow's in every box you pack.

This box is amazing! I'm doing 12 boxes this year. Ive never done a box before. I have been collecting things but would love to know more about clearance. Like when is the best days to go to Walmart after Easter and stuff like that.

Thanks Kristi! It’s so great that you are packing this year! Awesome! I usually follow clearance shoppers to know the best days to clearance shop. It’s always 50% off the day after the holiday and within a few days or a week will go to 75% off. Then eventually 90% if we are lucky! This is the best time to shop for your boxes! You can get fun and quality items at a lower price. Right now, Walmart is having a toy clearance so you might want to check out your stores. Hope that helps!

Very beautiful box. It is packed so nice and full. You do such a great job. That age was hard for me to pack at first. Now after watching you do it for so long.I got so many ideas I can just fly along now. I got some really nice skate board set's on clearance at Walmart's today. They are the really nice one's. Plus alot more clearance toy's also.

They have the large skateboard, shoes, plus a car. You run them with your fingers. Kid's love them. I see people putting them in shoe boxes. Teen's love them too.

No lo entiendo ¿como se puede entregar una caja vacía? Si no tienes dinero suficiente para hacer una, te puedes juntar con un amigo o familiar y entregar una preciosa caja. Siempre he pensado que hay personas que se entran en que lo importante es hablar al niño de Jesús y la caja sólo es el método para hacerlo. Pero no estoy de acuerdo, el amor de Dios llega muchas veces sin palabras, por medio de un gesto. Por mi parte, tengo un sueldo pequeño, pero cada año hago de 4 a 6 cajitas. Las preparo con amor, durante todo el año(voy comprando poco a poco) y de tan llenas, tengo que poner tres o cuatro gomas gruesas, y aún así no cierran bien. No son temáticas, pero son bonitas y repletas de todas las cosas que gustan a una niña (algunas son para 5 a 9 años, y la mayoría para 10 - 14)Durante todo el año llevo a, esas niñas en el corazón. Ojalá pudiera darles más, pero se que yo hago el 1% y Dios hace el 99% Gracias por estos videos, me da ideas y me hacen sentir parte de una gran familia.
