Operation Lovecraft SCAM or NOT?

Project Helius' long-running game in-development Operation Lovecraft: Fallen Doll, has been years in the making. It first appeared as Fallen Doll but after a survey of players, the decision was made to ditch the original concept and change the game entirely to include Lovecraftian type beasts and alien beings. For the record, Operation Lovecraft is for mature audiences. There is really not much here for anyone else just yet. However, it is this fact alongside the lengthy development time and seemingly slow progression that has led many to label the project a SCAM. Don't listen to the naysayers, they are wrong.

Costumes, characters and physics are VERY nice. But I wish the current state of the game was better optimized. The wait would be more enjoyable.

So if you put £30 down you get the game on Steam or without steam?

Yeh u get the Harem mode access (steam code) and several research passes. However, they recently changed the tier rewards. Not as good now as before.

Been waiting the full game completion for years, but honestly don't mind as long as they deliver pretty much the highest graphic quality of this kind. By the time this game finishes, upgrading the PC hardware should be more affordable.

I've been really on the fence from purchasing the game due to the main draw being native VR support. The steam demo is what got me interested in Operation Lovecraft in the first place. I understand these things take time due to them being small devs, but I look at someone like the creator of Captain Hardcore, who is just one developer- is able to push out updates at a much faster rate than Project helios. Maybe that might not be a fair comparison due to the games offering different experiences and having different ambitions in terms of what they want out of their games, but I don't know.

@@danalasdos Actually just yesterday when I made this video on Discord he was on there and mentioned that the VR is slowing things down generally, but he's sticking with it. It will be coming in the next one or two updates. But yeh, I see how it's tempting to drop it what with Praydog's mod working well with this game and the fact, 99% of people on Discord do not care for the VR mode.

@@R0BCRAM Thanks for clarifying that Robcram! I know a lot of people don't really care for VR all that much, but I personally think it's a really great experience and enjoy a lot. (Watched all your VR title videos, btw) I hope he really does stick to it because I think it would be a great feature to have!

@@R0BCRAMconsidering I see a ton of people in the discord asking when VR releases and the fact it was originally VR in the first place, I find that REALLY hard to believe. Don’t promise things if you don’t plan on keeping them

Well...PH has broken several promises already (apparently). I am glad he's sticking with VR though, but I can understand the frustration that it pulls resources away from adding new characters and gameplay elements.

It is, but it's far from finished. You have to sub via their Patreon to get the mode showcased in the video.

Good thoughts. Worth a one-time investment at the very least. Without fans supporting the game, there will be no game. Good community, too.

Indeed. Still one of the best demos out there. I hope captain hardcore on steam doesnt have similar wait times. Look what the did to Vr hot! Took away the AI mode.😡

IKR, terrible but obviously Steam covering their backs against any legalities. It's up to the devs to put the patches off the Steam platform.

Only the Quest standalone version has AI still.
