Siachen is the highest battlefield in the world, more than 6000 metres above the sea level and a difficult snow-covered terrain where temperatures go below minus 30 degrees.This was a strategically important mission to capture Bilafond La, Gyong La, Indira Col and Sia La in the Saltoro Ridge. In August 1984, India also captured Gyong La and thus regained control over entire Siachen.

Sadly.. not a single mention of Tibetan jawans.. almost all Tibetan family living in India had n has one member in Indian army.. my dad fought in Bangladesh war when he was only 17! And three of my elder brothers were in Indian army.. they are in sachien glacier ,kargil... There is a song based on kargil war in Tibetan .. free Tibet.. jai hind.. Tibetan jawans in Indian army are backbone in Himalayan frontier ..

I understand the pain of the cold as I myself have lived in -45°c in Canada with nothing but a jacket, a beanie, thin face mask and pair of boots, wearing jeans and mitts all of them single layered. It's not easy for these guys to fight at such altitudes with such temperatures

I am proud to say that i was trained by this army people in my NCC days and with the help for their directions i successfully completed RDC 2003. I am super proud of my self for being a part of our servicemen. Very proud of Indian Army..!! When ever i need motivation i remember my days in NCC that i can do anything impossible to possible.
