Colin Firth & Matthew Macfadyen are interviewed for Operation Mincemeat. Directed by John Madden, the film stars Colin Firth, Matthew Macfadyen, Kelly Macdonald, Penelope Wilton, Jason Isaacs, Johnny Flynn, Simon Russell Beale, Mark Gatiss. Stefan Pape is asking the questions.
Plot: The movie is set in 1943. The Allies are determined to break Hitler’s grip on occupied Europe and plan an all-out assault on Sicily, but they face an impossible challenge - how to protect a massive invasion force from a potential massacre.
It falls to two remarkable intelligence officers, Ewen Montagu (Colin Firth) and Charles Cholmondeley (Matthew Macfadyen) to dream the most inspired and improbable disinformation strategy of the war - centred on the most unlikely of secret agents: a dead man. Operation Mincemeat is the extraordinary and true story of an idea that hoped to alter the course of the war - defying logic, risking countless thousands of lives, and testing the nerves of its creators to breaking point.
Operation Mincement will commence in UK cinemas on the 15th of April, 2022.

There’s an interview somewhere where they do get asked and they quite literally say that they are surprised and kinda disappointed that no one asked and that they think that it is probably because no one cares. The interviewer gets to say that she cares and that she loves them both. I don’t know where was it.

Colin Firth seems like a pretty introverted person irl, which only goes to show what a great and versatile actor he really is. MacFadyen is so hot here lol, and also talented and articulate. I’m a fan of both :)

It is not a coincidence that these two giants play in this outstanding movie. Since their « Mr Darcy » they proved they can play any role. They keep on improving, like good wine. I think British actors are the best in the world because they love English literature, have better drama schools, a long drama history, start on small stages and grow, … Their voices and outstanding prononciation, good looks, humor, dedication and humility make them extremely charming, lovable and therefore successful.

Colin Firth has expressed publicly on at least one ocassion that Matthew Mcfayden’s Mr. Darcy is his favorite. He stated he understood Mr. Darcy as a character till Matthew played him.

Just watched the film, and it's great. One downer IMHO is that there are long stretches of non English dialoge and THEY DIDNT USE SUBTITLES. I'm not fluent in Spanish and I had to guess what they were saying! Big mistake!!

For some strange reason, the fools who wrote this slop thought that the most intriguing espionage action ever taken in WW2 wasn't exciting enough, so they made a boring, sloppy love story the center piece of the movie. The original story was written by Lt Commander Ewen Montagu entitled " The Man Who Never Was" and it was made into a movie of the same name in 1956. Remake's of classics rarely make the grade and this mess is no exception !
