LYRICS
Majesty
Faithful me
Pour yourself
Into me
Wield your power
Martyr's price
Stare me down
To the ground
The eyes of the devil
Fixed on his sinners
Slake my thirst
Eternal wealth
Heathen key
'Round my neck
This poetry
Our blasphemy
Know the sounds
Of infamy
The hands of Satan
Assembling his flock
The pale horse rider
Searching the earth
Whispered conjuration
A belief takes form
Choking hand tapping
The veins in your throat
His orders in your mouth
A decree for domination
Beneath the tides of wisdom
Spins the undertow of hate
Injected seeds of vengeance
Usurper's eyes on the powerless
Clean path to his kingdom
Beaconing in the mist
The grand conjuration
Tell me why
Love subsides
In the light
Of your wish
Say my name
Ease the pain
Clear the smoke
In my head

Not enough credit is given to Akerfeldt's take on death growls either. With how many death metal bands there have been since the late 80s, very few growls still come close to sounding as rich and mostly understandable like his do.

This is opeth’s greatest one. I feel that in my guts and also get reassured when I see live versions of this song when mikael starts with ‘this is a song we expected more love for’. Even he didn’t expect this song to not perform well, for fuck sake he named it the grand conjuration and even screamed it exactly in the middle of the song time, his one of the best screams too, btw

When people ask me to describe Opeth’s sound, I usually tell them to think of a much darker, heavier version of Genesis. Just to give them a rough idea. But that description honestly doesn’t even begin to do them justice. They have such a unique sound. There’s truly no other hand out there quite like Opeth. Their music is heavy, intense, terrifying, romantic, heartbreaking, tranquil, so many words can be used to describe this beautiful art. I get that maybe their music won’t click with everyone but to me they are one of the greatest bands of all time.

maybe their best album. and sometimes I think they have made the most intricate and beautiful heavy music ever made (as opposed to just heavy). so I get it man. they are on another level from almost all bands.

I wasted way to much time listening to seventies music. All the time I could have listened to this awesome band. Mixing seventies prog with extreme metal. Again I am years behind. But it is great to find a band with a huge back catalogue and discover album by album. Black water park is my favorite. This one Second.

both of those albums along with Pale Communion show all three of Opeth's sides. Raw power and composition in BW Park, haunting/eerie and immense musical composition + creativity in this album, and gorgeous keyboard work, smooth composition, and sleek guitar work in Pale Communion. But the upcoming album is starting to sound like a whole new side of Opeth, and I love it
