I think it has to do with the fact that we listen to these guys on O&A for hours and hours on end, and unlike most entertainers, they are just talking as they normally would and sharing their lives so you feel that you get to know them as a person. With most celebrities like actors, musicians, etc. the only times you see them they are literally playing a part of a completely different character than who they actually are. So I don't understand how people can think they feel close to someone like a big movie star from watching their films, it's just fucking delusional.

Wow. It's been 11 years already. This is how I found out about Patrice. 11 years ago, 10 days before he passed away, I was almost killed by a drunk driver. I was in a trauma center for about 8 or 9 days. Since I had a leg break, my family bought me an iPad which I was apparently getting at Christmas time anyway. But I got it early because I was bedridden or had to be in a recliner all day. That's when I would watch KZfaq a lot and started finding all these little O&A clips and videos. And then just like anyone else, I found myself cracking up during Patrice's relationship talks and all these little burns he and the guys would give each other. But Patrice is always a weird thing for me because I found out about him during this moment of calamity in my life, only accented by the fact that he himself faced the end of his life at the same time. It felt like one of those "almost in the nick of time" moments. I would have loved to go see him one day. My brother got the pleasure of seeing him live.

From what I can see, Patrice was on his way of maintaining the balance of the trifecta of what his personality was: - His already known Raw Comic persona - Becoming a pundit who truly gave a shit about people (The episode where Patrice was a guest of Alex Jones was a perfect example of this! PM me if you haven't watched the interview.) - And becoming a borderline Cult Leader.

I knew about his diabetes but I didn't realize how dangerous it was, just like I didn't realize how special he was. I stopped listening to O@A in late September for whatever reason and when I came back in December I found out he was gone. I cried like I have for no one else who I had never met. I want to say I liked this vid because I love Patrice. I had never heard of O@A until after Patrice's death, and now am a proper pest for O@A. I was always and will forever be a Patrice fan. Thank You O@A for giving me more of Patrice than I even knew existed. I LOVE YOU O@A FOR THAT

I found O+A at such a weird time, maybe about a year and a half before Ants firing. I only got an echo of Patrice right as O + A was also about to die. So glad there's still so much online, but I can't help also feeling a bit robbed that I missed out on so much.
@MrOllie-il3vo3 жыл бұрын
As someone who found the show around 2002, you were definitely robbed. So many funny bits or conversations that will never be heard again. I remember driving to work in the morning and being mad that I had to wait to get out of work to listen to the whole show via replays.

This was really the beginning of the end for O&A I feel. After Patrice passed they never really seemed like they were having fun doing the show anymore, clearly he was a guy who made the studio such a fun place to be. RIP man, gone far too soon.

The thing I loved most about Patrice was when you got down to it there was no bullshit in him. He called it like he saw it. Agree or disagree ya gotta respect that quality in a person.

It's crazy how you can listen to the same old Patrice bits over and over and over again and it's still as insightful and hilarious as the first time you heard it. And reading all these comments that show nothing but love for him really shows you how influential and amazing he was as a comic and a person. Fuckin love ya Patrice RIP
