I didn't know Otto had passed until I saw Norton's American Degenerate special & the dedication came up at the end. For all of his cranky attributes, there was a sweetness to Otto, like he was still a teenager watching slapstick movies.

The funniest thing I ever heard George say was when they did The Aristocrats. George gets through detailing the act with all these disgusting things, then turns to Otto and says "Your line!" Those two words after all that filth had me rolling on the floor. I'm sad to find out Otto's dead.

Still the funniest thing I have ever heard was back in the WNEW days Otto and George were on and they were talking to some woman that had the largest natural breasts in the US, and they asked George what he thought and he said " I don't know, she looks like something that wandered out of an Oscar Meyer plant." It still makes me laugh thinking about it.

Strange that Opie knew that Kevin Spacey was a big fan of Otto and kept it to himself all this time. But I guess Ope is such a huge celebrity himself that an Oscar winning actor being a fan of a comic friend to the show who never made it really big was no big deal and not worth mentioning. Unless he was lying...

What do you chalk that up to, conspiracy? Good for you that you love Opie, yet can't accept 99 percent of the listeners disagree with you, and have 20 years of documentation to prove why they reach that conclusion.

I knew Otto as a kid when he first started out. He was younger than 14 btw. Otto, in his real life had a real dark side. He was mostly a loner and used the puppet to communicate with the world. George's hostility was a reflection of Otto's personality. As a young child, Otto dreamed to make it as a ventriloquist and he surely achieved his goal. RIP Otto.

Otto was my favorite comic. Although I preferred when he did interviews without the puppet. He was the funniest person in just simple conversation, which is my favorite type of humor because it's natural. I wish Otto only did George occasionally, the way Jim Norton does Chip, occasionally. Otto sold himself short by always relying on the puppet. He didn't need the puppet at all. It's too bad Otto never did anything solo. As brilliantly funny as Otto was, he also rarely changed his act. I saw him live numerous times and it was always exactly the same act. Granted, it was always great to see. But it's too bad he was such a lazy junkie, because in simple conversations you'd see just how sharp and witty he really was.

@@brandonb3174 and he did also choose to react to that being violent, hitting a girl with a rock (I remember that story), stealing, robbing, and basically being a completely piece of crap. Where as (yes, i know) Vos actually did change his act and got himself clean, and whereas Patrice also had a life changing experience when he went to jail, Bobby just comes off as a complete douche, even if he had a rough childhood. Not disagreeing with you, sir, with regards to how a messed up childhood can produce messes, but Bobby stands out as just having been a creep his whole life. I mean, you heard the stories Sam shared over the air about how he would grab Sam and treat him like his personal twink in the studio while off hours, that's just fucking insane. Or the story about Bobby robbing an Italian restaurant owner in Boston and almost getting killed by the Mob (and his mom refusing to pay for his bail). O&A fan since 1999, love the show, but I also remember a lot of the stuff that was foul.
