Instead of acting like Howard Hughes and going off the deep end with paranoia and obsessive control - Lucas should have embraced his mistake and made it into a positive thing. I mean come on Lucas has MILLIONS and MILLIONS of dollars. He is richer than the Emperors of Rome. What MORE do you want GEORGE? You are not God but a clever marketer of entertaining films. Luckily some guy kept his Beta copy of the show from back in 1978 or Lucas would have won.

The Star Wars Holiday Special is like George Lucas' version of an embarrassing sex tape. He thought all copies were destroyed but it still managed to be leaked and there's nothing he can do about it.

This Special is Lucas' prequel's attempt in a nutshell. Pandering to bring in a younger audience - check. Blatant commercialism in selling action figures - check. Cameos and roles given to appeal to a mass audience - check (rather than Beatrice Arthur, it's Samuel L. Jackson or Jimmy Smits). Shoehorned appearances by primary OT Star Wars characters - check. Only thing good about it is the original Star Wars score - check.

I think the Actors really don't want this shown as well as Lucas...this should be destroyed...

George Lucas had nothing to do with the Holiday Special. That's why he hates it. He just licenced out characters. This is why George stopped doing that until the Heir to the Empire books. The Animated portion was alight, but the rest is junk.
