In his speeches, Obama’s eyes are bloodshot, like he has been crying or is actively trying to hold back tears. Because Obama cared and had a soul about these things. Trump was all id.

There are other reasons people think he was a bad president, namely effectiveness. Martha Tedla And that’s exactly the truth of it! It’s hard to get people, especially those who hated Obama right at the start, to understand the real reason he wasn’t able to get the things done he promised to do, and had the desire to do. They have to remember, if they were even watching and listening, that when he was president, he was surrounded by hateful, repugnant repubs. At the time, they had the senate and the house. They wanted him to fail, even plotting to make him a “one-term” president(which didn’t work). But if he had been able to do what he planned all along, I believe we as a country would be the better for it. But now we have a president(in name only) who has the kind of reps he wants to do his every bidding; they’re willing to bend over backwards to serve his every whim, do all that he desires, which obviously also includes lying about the very obvious, even though it’s destroying us. I’m so sick and tired of all the nonsense. Watching vids of Obama when he was leader, a real leader, is like a breath of fresh air. I miss him so much.🥺

"It would be impossible at this point to ban all guns in the U.S without going door to door to collect." After centuries of gun trading, banning guns in the US will not solve the problem in 3 or 10 years, but is one of the first major steps to be taken. Better now than never.
@NeutralDice

I share your fear of a civil war over gun possession, the 19th-century sanguinary dissension will always remain fresh. To prevent such a bleak scenario, steps and measures should be taken fast but GRADUALLY and such a taking of measures will progressively lead to a "gun free" culture or anyway one not passionate about guns. It is hard to change the mind of an old man who has lived with a rifle or firearm in general all his life, but the younger generations will be easier to embrace a "gunless" culture. Look for example at smoking: in the past puffing in movies etc. was so disgracefully common and even praised, now seeing actors smoking is almost unheard-of. This was a progressive social change not an overnight one.

Please educate yourself at least a little bit. The assault weapons ban happened a while ago, banning ALL automatic weapons, with some exceptions. No citizen carries automatic weapons, and the closest thing you'll get is semi automatic. I think that semi guns should also be banned, as they are overkill for the reason of self defense. Shotguns are still very effective, and have tight regulations. Hunting rifles (bolt action-like) have their place in the gun world, so I think those should be mostly left alone.

@xwinniez As we all know, Trump has also made comments that are not Christ-like; none of us are perfect. But I think the point here is that Obama showed compassion in his response to the victims and their families, and sought to make changes to prevent it from happening again. In the same span of time after a similar tragedy, Trump sent a few tweets, had a photo op, and went to Florida to play golf.

@Juli juli Trump kept bragging about the economy being the best under his administration and the worst under Obama's, which isn't true, but even so, under his amazing economy, what was better? Did you personally benefit from his economy? What significance did the economy help you out? The point is, unless you're upper class, a business owner, or a millionaire or higher, you don't notice any change at all in your life. The economy is great for Trump's millionaire scumbag buddies, and it doesn't do a single thing for middle class and lower. But look at the economy now, under corona. Trump's biggest selling point to his millionaire pals is now down the toilet and you can tell it makes him furious that he can't brag about it anymore. Luckily, he can brag about the US being #1 in corona virus cases. Which is what he actually did, calling the 90k tests a "Badge of Honor" (his literal words) and that 90k means that the testing is working, despite all the negative things he says about the tests and also the fact that him and administration is tested, daily, while millions of Americans, even now, don't have access to testing, despite Trump repeatedly claiming that anyone can get a test. The point is, the economy doing great doesn't do a damn thing for me or for you, just Trump's rich buddies, so when Trump brags about it, it's not impressive to me.

I wasn't a fan of Bush, and I wasn't a fan of Obama. But in times like these, you can see the differences between how they handled a crisis versus the current administration. The contrast is like night and day. If someone likes Trump, I can understand that. Everyone is entitled to their perspective, and because of their personal experiences, it is completely valid. What I don't understand are the supporters who don't at least feel a little bad seeing his poor response to times of chaos, or perhaps start to question things. It's the mindless following of a supreme being no matter the cost. At what point does it stop? How bad do things have to get before these people say "Wait a minute, that's not cool." Do the bullets have to be tearing through their bodies? By then, it will be too late.

To be fair, both President Obama (Sandy Hook) and President W. Bush (Virginia Tech) showed compassion and respect for victims of school shootings during their presidencies. Both a Democrat and Republican president brought the country together immediately after shootings - regardless of the lack of congressional gun control legislation that followed. Trump is just a weird manic case neither democrats, Regan Republicans and the rest of the world can't explain. ...and man this guy can golf nonstop! Remember when Trump criticized Obama for playing golf. A website called trumpgolfcount.com shows he will easily overtake both Obama's and Bush's 8 year term golfing totals in less than 4 years.

I'm democratic- pretty far left - I totally agree with the OP's statement and Kage315's post. Trump is not a fair representation of the average republican. I didn't agree with a lot of what bush said, but he was a good guy who took his presidency seriously. I could tell he really cared about what he did and cared about the country and its people. Obama was a good man who took his presidency seriously and cared about the country and its people. Trump, he doesn't care about his presidency and doesn't care about the country and doesn't care about the people. I feel he took presidency just to prove that he could, and not out of genuine interest to lead our country and make it better. Cause it's only gotten worse.

The sad thing about pushing the whole "Democrats vs Republicans" thing during the Trump presidency is that it's going to make a lot of Republicans feel compelled to defend Trump, because he's "their side". I thought Hillary Clinton was a better choice than Trump, but when she lost I had to admit to myself that she was a very poor choice of candidate, and should not have been appointed by the DNC in the first place. On the flipside, I see Trump do a lot of very non-conservative things (use his Presidential power to condemn the free speech and quell bad press, for one - it really gets me that 2nd Amendment supporters don't see the risk to the 1st Amendment when Trump openly attempts to discredit any media critical of him, or any science contradictory to his policies), but a lot of Republicans seem to be all-in behind him because.... to condemn him is to support the democrats, I guess? I'm not American, but I am really glad my country doesn't have a 2 party system that forces people into one of two extreme camps.

James Gardner I feel the same. It seems that American politics has become so polarized that neither side can really see beyond the silly point-scoring rhetoric. This means sensible actions are over-looked because they are deemed to be a 'win' for one side or the other which means the country as a whole loses. I hate the concept of 'ideology and party > common sense solutions to society's problems'. Sadly I am seeing similar partisan divides starting to occur in my own country (UK).

A simple but respectful act to lower the American flag and give words of comfort when this type of tragedy occurs. Human touch speaks so much louder than twitter responses. Whilst Obama allowed the sale of bump stocks in 2010. Yes, after analyzing its ability to enable semi-automatic rifles they decided it wasn't for regulation. You know the device now, the one that killed and maimed hundreds in Vegas. This issue isn't so simply black or orange is it?

bobo, you're being purposefully deceptive, as are republicans pushing this. The ATF determined that they couldn't regulate these items under current law. That doesn't mean they didn't _want_ to regulate them. Given Obama's consistent stance related to increased gun control measures, it's clear he and his government would have regulated the item if they felt they legally could.

y'all sounds ridiculous. Obama addressed this in an earlier speech, but if you're saying that it can't be done, you're just straight lying. And let's say, even if it isn't legally allowed, then we have the right to amend our laws and make it legal. Either way it's possible, and if you're saying they wanted to regulate it, then they would've done everything in their power to do so. I mean they didn't even accept banning people on the no-fly list. Actions speak louder than words.

I'm just going to list a few great things Obama has done Got us out of the 08 recession, created DACA to help the children of illegal immigrants, began prepositions to rebuild Afghanistan, ordering the killing of Osama bin laden, basically dismantled Al-Qaeda, dealt with the Iranian nuclear issue in a diplomatic manner which kept americans out of a war and helped starving Iranians, (Despite your personal feelings about Obamacare) it did allow 30 million Americans to seek healthcare, improved relations with Cuba, made the united states a leader in dealing with climate change, effectively dealt with hurricane sandy, offered aid to multiple countries during his presidency. The thing about debt is that us debt is going to increase regardless of what the president does as that money comes mostly from unpaid loans and borrowed money from banks. The debt drastically increased because of the recession so Obama cant be blamed for that. He isn't a perfect president but I would be lying if I said that he didnt do a pretty good job not to mention he passed the stimulus, got rid of the "dont ask dont tell" policy, Temporary fixed American industry, The wall street reform, Ended the war in Iraq (That's a mixed bag because of ISIS although ISIS at the time was not considered a threat), toppled Gaddafi's regime, removed the corrupt leader of Egypt, Reverssd Bush era torture tactics, Removed banks from the federal student loan program, Created "Race to the Top" which put 4.8 billion more dollars into education, peacefully engaged china regarding its behavior, increased support money for veterans, put 2 billion dollars into treatment for PTSD and other war related illnesses, created more climate conditions, and created the "START" treaty which resulted in Russia and the United states dismantling 1,000 warheads

So this showed up on my feed today and it really hit home for me. In March of 2018, I was a student at Maumelle High School. It was after lunch and I was in my Biology class when we were informed via intercom that we were immediately to go into lockdown. My teacher herded my classmates and I into a storage closet inside the lab adjoining to the biology classroom. Everyone was on their phones, trying to figure out what was happening. One student reported that there was someone with a gun threatening people on campus, another claimed that he heard gunshots. I remember texting my little sister, who attended the high school across the street. She said that they were on lockdown too but not in immediate danger. I struggled with what I should tell my parents. They had already gotten a phone call from the school, but I know that wasn’t enough. They wanted to know if they would see their child again. I couldn’t tell them the truth because truthfully? I was afraid for my life. I thought to myself “there is a possibility that you will die today.” But no one would be cruel enough to tell their loved ones that. So I told them what they needed to hear: I was fine and that I was lucky enough to be locked in a room inside of a room. Not that a lock could stop a shooter. After around 2 hours of lockdown, my teacher was notified that officers were coming to walk us out. A later investigation concluded that a student threatened another student with a B. B. gun in the parking lot. No one died that day, no tragic loss of life. But what about other students whose stories don’t have a quite as happy ending? What about the countless young lives that could have been spared with stricter gun control laws. No one is asking anyone to throw all of their guns away. Just take them out of the hands that use them for evil. That day in March, I may not have lost my life but I lost a piece of my innocence. I have nightmares and eye classmates warily. I forget birthdays and assignment due dates, but I will never forget the feeling of fear for my life and the lives of my friends. I will never forget the conversations my biology teacher and classmates had about what we could use as a weapon in that storage closet. I will never forget the feeling of guilt as I realized that my parents might end the day with one less kid than they started the day with. No child should have to have these thoughts. No child should have to live with the trauma of school shootings. But that is the America we live in. In this America, the second amendment is trump card, no pun intended. In this America, the right to bear arms is more important than the basic human rights that Thomas Jefferson outlined in the Declaration of Independence: LIFE, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

Thank you for sharing ♥️ I've been in a similar situation back in 2011. I remember the incredibly unsettling computer-generated voice coming through the speakers that informed us about a potential shooter in the building. Then the police locked us in our classroom for the next hours to come. In my case it turned out to be a false alarm. A technical error caused the authorities to arrive. There was no shooter, only an error in the system. But here's the real deal: we expected this to be some kind of mistake. I'm from Germany and situations like these are a rare sight. Especially when compared to the US. I cannot imagine going through such an experience in a much more gun-filled environment. I feel for all of you.

Nikki Cantrell truthfully, love, I feel better with trump in charge because he's gonna sit down and fix it, whatever that fix is, not have ideological tunnel vision about a specific agenda, and that's obvious, to ME at least. Obama shed a tear, naturally, he's a good guy, human, we all did ,as parents (even parents who are nra members. Yup, not monsters) and went on a head hunt for guns, that's all. Trump said fuck red or blue, let me hear what everyone thinks, the only agenda is to make sure this never happens again, what can we do? Arm and train teachers? Makes sense, the shooter kills til the guns show up,K, done. The fbi dropped the ball twice and the local law was at this kids house 39 times in one year AND he was charged for pointing guns at people before this? K, fuck that, find out the who and they're fired idk about the why, and they'll be lucky if they're not brought up on charges. What else? Age restrictions so kids can't get these guns til they're 21? K, fuck it, lets try it, how could it hurt? Expand background checks to include mental health? K, good idea, done. Next? We could hire retired military or police to be a kind of air Marshal undercover armed security? K, love it, anything else? Magnetic doors? K, see who needs them. Ban the AR? No, that would start a civil war but bump stocks are gone. Nra won't like that, Mr. President, but ok I'll look into it. Trump aren't you gonna cry? 'On camera? No Im going to fix the problem, What would that do?' ...nothing. 'k, next question.' You see what I mean? Maga But...but..didn't you see Obama's...tear? 😑 ya, I saw that. Touching. But he couldn't see past his ideology to find these solutions, and wasn't able to humble himself enough to listen. Nobody wants dead kids, the nra has had a safe school program for a cpl years now, like a fire drill for teachers. We ALL want to protect the children. The CNN town hall with its scripted questions (there was a student that refused to go cuz they rewrote his questions, wouldnt let him ask his, and literally said he had to stick to the script. Completely delegitamized these kids and their speeches. KZfaq that shit if you think Im lying. Thats why its good to watch both sides of cable news, puts things in perspective) AND that bullshit sheriff was a disgrace. Just like using these kids to push an agenda is a disgrace, or attacking everyone with emotion when everyone's emotional taking advantage of high school kids with ptsd less than 24 hours after a tragedy is a disgrace. BUT that's how they did it in Australia and Britain and if your looking through that lens of 'never let a tragedy go to waste' or 'the ends justify the means' then it's the smart play to make and it's where your minds automatically gonna go without you even being aware of it. On the other hand, if you look at it morally like 'how do we protect these kids and make sure this never happens again?' It looks a little different, looks kinda like it did when trump sat in that room and listened to everybody 'You, little girl, ur thoughts?' 'You, black guy, your turn' 'let's hear from Mr Ginny wop Next' everybody tell me everything you think might help just in case I missed anything, and we'll do it all. FUCK ya, bout time we did something. N I'm old, but I don't remember kids being plastered wall to wall on my tv during any shootings under the previous administration blaming Obama like he came in spraying classrooms 🤔 VERY. ODD. So, ya, trump, to answer your question. final answer 🙂

After one terrible mass shooting in Australia the country's hard-right conservative Prime Minister and his conservative deputy got together with all the state leaders to work out a ban on semi-automatic firearms. Some state leaders pushed the legislation through their parliaments knowing that it would doom them at the next election. They were willing to make that sacrifice to save lives. It worked. There has not been another major mass shooting on Australian soil since then.

XXROCCOXX8 Your a liar. All Americans wish they had a president with true sympathy and sincerity not this Fake individual who pretends he is sad and has hollow and shallow speeches whereby all he can do is read from a teleprompter.

One is a leader, an educated man, a compassionate man that has empathy and common sense. He is articulate and knows how to inspire and lead a nation. The other one is an overgrown potato
