Did you enjoy Series 10 more than me? What were your favourite bits?

Throughout that entire Donald and Douglas skit, I kept expecting Donald to blurt out 'Doggae, the fook ya talkin' 'boot ya daf' coont?' in the most Scottish accent imaginable.

One phrase that can describe Season 10: *”Mr. Snowman, I told you to go back to the children! Why are you still following me?”*

Douglas: Everyday the wind tells me(babbling about giving up and everything. Donald: What. Thomas. GET ME OUT OF THE SNOW YOU SCOTTISH DEMON. Douglas: Oh there's Thomas.

I loved the Solid JJ style Donald and Douglas part. 😂

Even for HIT era standards you can tell they were either running out of ideas or just straight up didn't care anymore cause the fact the stories got THIS dumb compared to 8 and 9 is really telling

They couldn’t afford to make a large scale model of Sir Handel during Season 5 due to budget limitations, hence why he was so absent from the series. But I like to think that he got into trouble for some bad behaviour and was sent away to the quarry and always worked there to get properly disciplined.

I'm a simple creature, I see a spot on donald and douglas impression with one of them saying some bonkers shit over top of those staring-into-your-soul dead model eyes? I crack up

I'm pretty sure the writers just saw the "Sir" part of Sir Handel's name and decided to make him the wise and proper character based solely on that alone.

A few moments I love in Season 10 (listed in chronological order): 1. Rheneas telling Duncan off for screwing around in Duncan Drops a Clanger (I know this one isn’t often considered one of Season 10’s best, but I personally enjoy it because Duncan was the right choice for this episode and everybody else is in character as well) 2. Gordon forfeiting his record to help Henry in It’s Good to be Gordon 3. Henry’s crash in Big Strong Henry (extra points for the footage not being slowed down for once) 4. Skarloey saving Rheneas from the runaway logs in Wharf and Peace (the only good scene in that episode) 5. Emily and the Special Coaches acknowledging that Gordon finally broke his record 6. Duncan and James’ dynamic in Duncan’s Bluff 7. The poster crash in James the Second Best (if it’s a reference to the Edward with James’ sad face error, I applaud it for that)

An episode with Douglas going crazy and plotting to destroy humanity would’ve been beetter to see instead of James disgusing as Edward. Also, whoever was able to sneak Duck into a HiT Era music video, I salute you.

Thomas Frosty friend is so forgettable that I just call the episode "the fucking snowman one"😂

I like to believe that It’s good to be Gordon is a missing S1 episode not long after Henry got his special coal

Although Season 10 is one of the worst seasons in the hit era with the infamous Edward Strikes Out episode, there are some good things about it with Rosie and Rocky making their debut in this season and then they would be appearing regularly outside of the model era, and Sir Handel appearing again after being banished to the Shadow Realm in Season 4. I felt like James should’ve took Edward’s place in Edward Strikes Out. And did you know that during production of Its good to be Gordon, Henry’s tender exploded?

9:00 This section with Donald and Douglas is both funny and a little terrifying.

In “Gordon and the Famous Visitor” a.k.a. “Domeless Engines”, we get the following narration: “On the viaduct, they _[Gordon and his driver]_ met the wind. It was a teasing wind that blew suddenly in hard puffs. Gordon thought it wanted to push him off the bridge. ‘No, you don't!’ he said firmly, but the wind had other ideas. It curled around his boiler, crept under his loose dome and lifted it up and away into the valley below.”

Ok, i think you legit are trying to kill me with the Donald and Douglas Skit! My Cold gives me a hard time laughing and that skit... Jesus Christ, this was funnier than anything i saw this month! Thank you!

Rosie was my favourite character as a kid too. My parents bought me the Take Along toy from a local shop, at that point in time we can't find the Tomy Rosie in stores so my dad ordered one online. Granted I liked Emily and Lady as well, had a Take Along Lady and both the Take Along and Tomy Emily. Rosie was the clear favourite though. And yes it was merely because of her livery, don't watch the show much in my childhood. 😊

14:44 - James goes there to support the team like a supporter

That thing in Topped Off Thomas actually made me think of something to praise about Misty Island Rescue. I remember in the film The Fat Controller said “I can find another hat but I can’t find another Thomas”, which could potentially be character development as he’s learned to not get so worked up about loosing an expendable belonging. It was probably not intentional, but it would be an instance of a HIT/Nitrogen era character learning something.

That ending gave me CHILLS. Ka-Chow!

Douglas talking to the wind is hilarious. As outlandish as it is, I kind of like it. After all, there may or may not be a sentient boulder, so who knows?

When I saw the thumbnail and date it would premier for the first time I actually thought it was an april fools prank. But then I saw the description and I know it’s the real deal

I like that in Big Strong Henry Gordon isn't complaining about pulling frieght like he would in Edward and Gordon😂😂

I think i have found a possible in universe explanation of Sir Handle’s off screen character shift & Dukes Disappearance: At the end of season 4 when the cameras shifted into standard gauge stories, maybe duke had to be sent off to a Railway Museum due to mechanical Problems, sending the Skr engines into grief of duke being gone, Particularly Peter Sam & Sir Handle. Maybe Sir Handles way of grieving at first was to be extra rude, have more accidents, & generally be uncooperative, to a point sir topham hatt sent him away to work at the slate quarry. Maybe while at the quarry Sir Handle started to question why the others looked up to duke so much compared to himself, & so Sir Handle started to ask around the quarry workers and other engines who visited the quarry. Perhaps Sir Handle learned about why Duke was so respected, & maybe as a part of the grief he started to imitate those aspects people & engines liked about Duke. Over time maybe it stopped being mere imitation & started to be Sir Handle actually learning & Growing as a Character. maybe by the time season 10’s events happened, He’d have had a full character arc, but we as an audience never would’ve known as it all happened off screen. Just something to think about.

Perfect day off video. Short of Mr. Tug himself this is my favorite Thomas channel by far. So ty.

How I would write a Rosie Thomas dynamic is Thomas is the one who fumbles his first time and that experience defines his outlook on life, Rosie does the same task with no disasters or trouble with ease but lacks confidence/worth from the experience, Thomas teaches Rosie about confidence/worth. Rosie reminds Thomas of his youthful outlook and to allow himself to live life. Plus I would use her American basis to add some character like with Hank, Rosie gets the job done no matter how mundane it seems like pilot duties/shunting cause Americans(being one myself/and specific working class of that time50-70s) were proud hard workers who loved their careers(unlike today). And Rosie should encapsulate that American railworker spirit. I don't mind her and Thomas having a relationship but its more of how you describe brother/sister variety cause their youthful desposition in the series. Now the closest engine couple I like is Henry/Emily their both mature and care for the other.

I'd have to say that Season 10 is my favourite Hit Era Season. Sure Edward's portrayal held it down. Bur that didn't stop me from enjoying it. I give this Season a 10/10.

Man this was tough to rewatch this season! But hey, at least it has some decent episodes here and there. But yeah, I absolutely don’t blame you with your thoughts on Series 10! Overall I can’t wait for your thoughts on Series 11 and especially The Great Discovery!

Hey Luke given how it the series 10 episode Topped of Thomas where the Fat Controller loses his hat and wants to get it back I just wanted to let you know that in Misty Island Rescue they actually fixed this problem because in the scene where the Fat Controller jumps with joy when he finds Thomas he throws his hat and it disappears into the mist and then Thomas is concerned he lost his hat but the Fat Controller then says this wholesome and wonderful line ''Don't worry I can find another hat but I will never find another Thomas''.

I haven’t Season 10 in so long and I do kinda agree with you on certain episodes. Great review and judging from that teaser, I’m guessing you’re gonna be talking about Cars. I’m excited because its one of the most underrated animated films ever in my opinion.

When you consider Rocky’s basis, that being a 1945 Ransomes & Rapier 45-ton crane, he can move. However, due to the size of his boiler, he cannot move more than a few feet at a time at a few feet per second.

The only reason edward strikes out "makes sense" is that edward dislikes cranes because one nearly killed him. *Edwards brass band anyone?*

Fantastic review! For how much Edward strikes out is for being infamous, they did attempt to make a interesting Edward episode (even if it’s still bad). Maybe with a few revisions maybe it wouldn’t be as bad, plus when we get to the Miller Era it makes that episode looks confident than a overly repetitive formula for each episode Edit: I love the Donald and Douglas skit as well as the others

Hey, Luke. Been watching your stuff since the Magic Railroad review, and I just wanted to say that you are, in my opinion, one of the most underrated people on this platform, especially with your videos not about Thomas. The way you structure everything, the subtle bits of humor, the unique views you bring to the table. It all feels quite British and autistic, but in a good way - like it’s a celebration of both. Keep up the fantastic work, mate! Also, don’t put yourself down too much for the quality of this piece. Yeah, it may not be your best work, but I still enjoyed it. In fact, to be honest, the apathy you seemed to be showing gives off a good impression of what this season feels like to watch. Just don’t try to burn yourself out with this and the Cars retrospective.

Glad to see love for Duncan's Bluff, it's certainly a bright spot in this not so bright season

At least Sir Handel is made much more friendlier and perhaps given the chance to do good deeds despite his pompous and bad traits to develop him. If he appears throughout Series 5-7 with his large scale model built at the same time as the others then he would've been given the chance to show his inner goodness after one original story of him being arrogant and rude. Don't forget, he respects Duke as his Granpuff back on the Mid Sodor after the events of Bulldog.

It's nice seeing you give Brandon some praise. I’ll admit, he’s not the best narrator, but he’s got a special place in my heart for having been the narrator as I grew up with the show as it aired. Nostalgia aside, however, he really does have some bright spots in his narration.

Say what you will about Sir Handel’s new personality, but at least he grew up, which rarely happened in this era. No wonder they mostly kept him with his new more mature personality in the cgi series.

I still don't understand why people say that "Edward strikes out" is the worst episode of the season. Yes, it was a middle finger to Edward. And the continuity is strange. And Gordon and Edward have no good reason to hate Rocky. But it has a good moral and the story isn't so bad. And there are worse things like "Follow that flour"

The last time there was such a short time gap was between Season 6 to 7 with the longest being between Seasons 8 to 9 with CAE being in between. Also I noticed for some reason your voice sounded a little higher pitched at the beginning. And also to Luke’s mother, if you wanted to find a way to wake Luke up when going to school. Edward Strikes Out in fact was originally meant for James, but was changed for Edward for an unexplained reason.

I’ve actually got a theory as to how Freddie fits into the continuity: In Grandpuff, it's stated that other engines on the Mid-Sodor railway came and went, and it's more than likely that Freddie was one of those engines. I’m thinking he worked on the Skarloey railway for a good long while and quite possibly was taken to a narrow gauge railway on the mainland before the events of Gallant Old Engine, hence why Skarloey and Rheneas around that time were the only engines working on the Skarloey railway. Then, of course, I believe a good long time working on the Skarloey Railway is what allowed Freddie to know about all of the shortcuts that were shown in his episode.

I Always respect someone who dives into a rewatch of Series 9 - 16, not too many people get this far (in terms of reviewing). Good work, looking forward to series 11 Luke.

I was used to the Hit and Miller era. as ive never heard or seen the railway series. Then after hearing about the railway series, and seeing the hit model era again, I can't believe how a team could just ruin the lore of Thomas, especally turning the narrow gauge engines into children. I really loved the Donald and Duglas segment. I hope to see more of those in the future, because that was hilarious!

Something I like as a fan of multiple franchises is hearing music from IPs like Pokémon and Mario in these Thomas videos

Thomas's Frosty Friend (That snowman balloon has a disturbing face) (Runner Up) Toby's Afternoon Off (When did they turn Toby into Dennis' brother?) 2. Edward Strikes Out (This episode should not have been written in the T&F series) 3. Topped Off Thomas (Nonsense of "Mr Wind") 4. The Green Controller (Percy being incompetent to know how to control a railway for a day?) 5. Follow that Flour 6. Seeing the Sights (Can't Thomas just ignore Gordon's boasting about being fast?) 7. Wharf & Peace (Why did they make Skarloey weak and cowardly?) 8. Percy & the Funfair (Percy should already know the importance of coal for the railway) 9. Which Way Now? (Rusty should be more patient and cautious) 10. Sticky Toffee Thomas (A childish and very predictable plot of Thomas daydreaming in fancy dress) By the way, I watched like three times Thomas' Tricky Tree to understand why it was good. I find it a little funny because Duncan teases Thomas about the christmas tree.

My least episode from Season 10 is Edward Strikes Out because they completely ruined his character But I do have memories of some of these episodes, well, some of them, but I do respect your opinion on these episodes

Edward Strikes Out should’ve been called Edward and the Runaway Crane and here’s how the episode should’ve been: the episode starts with narrator explaining who Edward is and then it would cut to Edward puffing into Brendam docks to see Gordon and Percy angry and upset. Edward asks them what’s wrong and Gordon tells them that the new crane (Rocky) is very rude and unpleasant and tells him to watch out. Edward heeds Gordon’s warning and then goes to collect his pipe train. When Edward backs downs onto his goods train next to Rocky, Rocky looks down at him and starts making rude remarks towards Edward and tells that he’s old, frail, and useless. Edward knows what Rocky is saying is not true and tells him that he may be old but he’s still quite useful and Rocky then says more rude things to Edward, but Edward ignores him and puffs away when the guard blows his whistle. Later on Henry arrives to collect Rocky and take him to a new location. Rocky says rude things to Henry which obviously makes Henry upset. Henry then pulls Rocky out of the docks and while they’re on Gordon’s hill, the coupling between Henry and Rocky snaps and Rocky becomes a runaway. Rocky races down Gordon’s hill with ever increasing speed. Meanwhile Edward is puffing down the line after finishing delivering the pipes and then a loud HEEELLLP and then Rocky races by Edward and then Edward says ‘oh no, Rocky’s a runaway I must save him’ and then Edward chases after Rocky. It would be a intense runaway and would be able to overtake Rocky and the signalman who change the points so Edward would go onto Rocky’s line and Rocky then slams into Edward and then Edward slams on his breaks and is then horrified to Thomas with Annie and Clarabel on the same line as Edward and Edward puts every once of strength he has against Rocky to save Rocky, Thomas, Annie, and Clarabel. Thankfully the signal man changes the points and Edward and Rocky are diverted into a siding and stops mere inches from the buffers. Everyone cheers for Edward for saving Rocky, Thomas, Annie, and Clarabel from a terrible accident and Rocky then apologizes to Edward for being so rude to him and Edward forgives him. The scene would then cut to another of the narrator saying that Edward and Rocky are now good friends and Rocky now helps clean up accidents and also apologized to the other engines that Rocky was rude too. I genuinely wish that THIS was the official episode instead of what we got.

The only thing I remember from the hit era is that one 'it's thomas' part at the beginning of every episode and the roll call song at the end of every episode.

Even if Season 10 is atrocious such as character flanderization and terrible episodes, it did still have great episodes such as Duncan’s Bluff and James the Second the latter being my all-time favorite episode from that season. But the worst episode would have to be Edward Strikes Out because it started ditching Edward’s character. Why the first character in the franchise got screwed up? This episode has to be my pick of the worst of the entire HiT Era because of that. We don’t see the old and wise Edward here. Other than that, there are times where Edward is in character. Anyways nice review Luke!

I can predict 2 things about the Season 11: Thomas Theorist will appear (If he appeared twice, three times won’t hurt), The ghost of “Did someone say magic” will appear for Smoke and Mirrors

I quite like Sir Handel in season 10; at least it shows he is capable of character development like all the others. Plus, if the HiT Era writers were really smart (ha! 😅) they would’ve found a way to balance out Sir Handel’s s4 personality with his new s10 one.

In My thoughts: Simon Nicholson He has also written for "Bob the Builder", "Rubbadubbers", "Tracy Beaker", "The Hoobs" and "Postman Pat". He also wrote a book for children, "The Oldmoor Orphans". in 2001 was the written the Only Storyline to David Mitton on Season 6. was writing the script "Big strong henry" on the dialogue was used this scene from Season 2 "Cows" and the American version "Cow on the line" This is one of my favorite stories when i was a kid I hearing on CD audio story Ringo Starr "Cow on the line" And Other Thomas the Tank engine Stories.

I think saying sir handel never had and never will change is a bit over exaggerated because while yes he was always rude and boastful he actually did learn from his mistakes. usually if someone truly can never change they keep on making the same mistakes over and over again, but that’s not the case for sir handel, only once did he purposely derail himself, only once did he fake sick to get out of work and only once did he try to one up george.

Honestly, I don't hate the idea of making Sir Handel more mature, and from an in-universe perspective, it would make sense for him to shape-up after working at the Stone Quarry for so long. What I don't like however, is that they made him THE wise old sage of the Narrow Gauge engines, while making Skarloey and Rheneas, the inexperienced children.

10:54, in Thomas’ Frosty Friend, I think in my opinion that this is a pre-Season 11 because of Thomas (but if it’s not, that’s ok, because it’s my own opinion)
