On two occasions in My Life, as an Emergency Service Officer, in unmarked Civilian Vehicles, have I been escorted by 8 Motorcycle contingents of Motorcycle Police.

They do motorcycle training but I don't think they have any black suburbans with siderunners as training vehicles. Those exact same vehicles with the exact same outfitting is used by the canadian government. It's possible but unlikely.

There is a certain arrogance, a certain insolence, a certain hubris for a politician to demand that a scarce resource, policemen, be diverted from their duties to run a full-on motorcade just so that they, the elitist limousine class, can shave a few minutes off the run in from the airport. The idea that a politician sees himself as a servant of the people and humbly accepts the same commute travails as ordinary folks seems not to have occurred to them. I can appreciate that the police agencies have no real ability to refuse these demands, yet that does not make it any more palatable. It does have the flavor of a Banana Republic, appropriate for some place such as Panama City, with Manuel Noriega sitting in the limo. Personally, I find this practice utterly revolting, nauseating, disgraceful, and disgusting. Impressive that the people of Toronto put up with such displays of arrogance and insolence.
