The cast of Christopher Nolan’s new film Oppenheimer left its London premiere early to “go and write their picket signs” ahead of a strike by Hollywood’s largest actors’ union.
Cillian Murphy, Emily Blunt, Matt Damon and Sir Kenneth Branagh were among the stars who staged the walk-out ahead of the screening of the historical epic at the Odeon Luxe in Leicester Square on Thursday.
The move came ahead of an announcement later in the evening by Sag-Aftra, an American union representing around 160,000 film and television actors, that its members had voted to strike for the first time in decades.
Speaking on stage at the premiere ahead of the strike announcement, Nolan said: “I have to acknowledge the work of our incredible cast, led by Cillian Murphy.

remember y’all; this has NOTHING to do with anyone in particular. this is a star studded cast with an amazing director and they’re all amazing, great people. it has EVERYRHING to do with making sure the writers for these movies are paid enough for the work they do; which they haven’t been for a long time now.

Lol seems like most people in the comments don’t understand how hard these people work and that the strike is a sign of solidarity- they will always get work, they’re striking for the massive issue of unfair profit split (resulting in untenable living) for the majority of actors who work so hard and get nothing when they actually do ‘get a break’. Please do some research on how things have changed for creatives since the streaming boom. It’s complete gross greed.

I personally think a lot of Nolan's films have too much talking. They focus too much on Shakespeare language that no average person in this world would behave. Too much so that it begins to feel forced. It's hard to pick up on what they are saying without subtitles especially with actors that have strong accent. Inception could've been done better with less talking making us audience feel like the movie is too easy to analyze. They don't need to explain everything by dialogue. Makes my brain fry.

Yes, when they do nothing we call them ignorance. But when they call out, we blame them for acting. Let me grab popcorn

What if a third party is created between actors and studio that will own the scanned actors and AI created scripts and the studio has to pay per use in it. Studio only own finished product. Anything outside of the finished product needs to pay again.
