The Great Oprah Winfrey As a 35 year old single mother of 4 with my oldest 2 being girls, one going to the fashion college of her choice ant the other an 8the grade honor student going into high school. I came to tears looking at this video. I only imagined the opportunities I gave up when I became pregnant with my daughter at 16. Now she is on her way to college in the fall with her purity and mindset in tack. I always used examples like u to show her that she can accomplish what she needs in life. I as a working single mom haven't had the opportunity to be the example that I have wanted to be financially but I provide for my 4 without child support and government assistance. And because of this and her pretty much growing up with me. She has seen my story first hand and understands the value of hard work. I'm so proud of my babies. And thank you for being a part of that inspiration. J may not be able to provide it all but u have inspired me as a mom to push education that I didnt take advantage of to my children. I wish there was a place that u could trust to send your kids to in the states that offered this type of motivational support and life training and sisterhood to our young ladies. We may have opportunities but none like what u have going on. I am going back to school myself for journalism. I still have my goals and dreams to go after and now that I have one going and 3 left to go. I started asking myself why am I so angry all the time? I realize that the one thing I wasn't doing even though I was providing for my kids which should ultimately make me happy was going after my own dreams. So I have started working towards that. I say all this to say thank you Oprah, thank you so much for inspiring the women in my household and we love u!!!💋💋💋💘💘

I remember watching the episode where they were selecting the first set of girls to attend. I cried so hard then, and I cried again when I saw her post a photo of some of them now graduating college. She has changed these girls' lives forever. More power to Oprah and all these young ladies. I hope they all manage to be beacons in their respective communities and help others along the way.

And to think that there's millions of people in the world who don't take the time to research all of the amazing things that Oprah has done for hundreds and thousands of lives she has touched and impacted. instead they criticize her and hate on her, meanwhile they're sitting at home eating and watching tv doing nothing to change the world. I LOVE OPRAH WINFREY " I have never met her but wow has this woman changed my life..I love her and may God continue to bless her ❤❤❤

thank you abc for sharing this with your viewers! i'm proud as an african that oprah has educated so many african girls. and to those of you who say why she doesn't do it here in the united states, she does! look up the "sons of oprah" at moorehouse college. she is the largest donor at the college, and has given over 10 million since late 1980s. oprah knows in the united states it is the black boys who are most at risk (from miseducation, from the police, from the prison system, etc), and she knows in africa it is the girls who are most at risk. so, thank you sweet orpah for being an inspiring soul!

I watched everyone of Oprah's shows. Also recored them and got my husband and children to watch. Age appropriate, of course, for my children. So many things rear their ugly heads now! I just say to myself... Oprah discussed these 30 years ago. I will never forget the little boy who appeared on the show. They were both sitting down at the time. He turned to her and said... I love you. Its was the most beautiful thing i ever saw. However, at the same time, i though to myself, wish i could say this to you. She was my everything then. So disappointing when she left tv.

Creating an unbalance in the traditional order or husband above wife. Part of the husband being above the wife is for him to provide and protect but how can he provide if he can't receive the same or higher education as the woman he is seeking to marry. It creates a society of women demanding more because women are naturally hypergamous and the majority of men not being able to meet their standards as a traditional husband. Definitely what's going on in the black community in America right now
@alexandraocean93987 жыл бұрын
it would have been so great had Oprah chosen to help the people of color (those girls 'like Oprah') here in the United States. not that what Oprah did was less, it just could have meant so very much to all those American girls do as well as those from Oprah's African school project. missed your chance Oprah, to be an American heroine for American girls.
@jameskazar85227 жыл бұрын
i am south african and the popular talk here is that oprah used south africa to get publicity for herself maybe angling for a nobel prize or something else. she is a narcissist. yes she has all the right words and i agree that she is using her money to help girls but why not american girls who have been ignored by obama for 8 years. oprah is an illuminati elitist and she only does things to help her own ego.

She doesn't hate men and she doesn't hate white people. But she is famous for her focus on education - particularly the education of children. She is genuinely passionate about keeping kids safe from predators. This can't surprise you, given her personal history. Oprah Winfrey doesn't owe anybody anything. It's depressing that even one poster could have a problem with what she's doing here. She's doing God's work. Your beef is with someone else, not Oprah Winfrey.

troy, I am not disputing that Oprah should have kept her promise to Mr. Mandela. My point is that it was so easy to do what Oprah did for the South African girls, but left the American black girl without Oprah help. why you might ask?...I ask as well. difficult children, poverty, lack and Oprah proved the easy way got Oprah what Oprah needed. Oprah could, in all truth DO for American girls what Oprah did for those very deserving and beautiful young women in South Africa. And do it today! but those American girls are difficult, bratty, hungry, lonely, left out, left behind and live in a very hard cold world, when one of the most successful black women decided to help somebody else, because it WAS EASIER. It's a good thing Oprah didn't have any children, who knows what she would have done? so much money, but Oprah couldn't stand the grit of the American black girl experience. They weren't grateful enough I guess!

oprah still helps pay for fees for americans. i dont know what you are on about ? she cant build a school in america but she can in africa. so in other words, while she pays for education for american, she also has done it for africans. i dont see what the problem is here ?
