Incredible! The fish tail detail is brilliant. Will add an additional sparkle when paired with the stones. Really nice!

Im fascinated by the process of setting gems and have been reading up about it but seeing it actually being done demonstrates how much skill, precision and patience is required. Beautiful

THAT is AWESOME. Shows how imperfect diamond setting really is. Every prong is very different then each other. I have a 1993 Rolex Datejust with a factory diamond bezel and looking at it under a microscope the bead settings are almost flawless. Almost like a machine did it, but it didn't. No wonder Rolex settings are so much more than aftermarket bezel are. That is a beautiful ring, first class for sure. Thanks for the education.

I don't get how the tiny diamonds stay do they fold over a piece of gold? Or does the diamonds just stick in the hole perfect without doing anything
@sethredmond3421
@sethredmond3421 4 жыл бұрын
The size of the whole has to be cut perfectly to match the stone, then the corners are tucked in to hold the stone in place, he does this at 8:12

@@sethredmond3421 cool itd be fun to learn how to to this but looks like you have to be a natural at something like this like not just anyone can be a gold smith

@@bluewidow9151 a natural talent will get you pretty far in this trade, but you never know how good you are till you try it and stick with it awhile. I had no idea is be good at stone setting but now in just 1 month I'm the best student of the greatest jewler on the east coast. You really don't know where your talent is unless you go out of your comfort zone and try stuff.

When's the last time you saw a piece of real diamond jewelry that didn't have a hole drilled through behind every stone? Using that technique to determine the stones authenticity is common practice in the absence of a tester.
@sirridok
@sirridok 2 жыл бұрын
@Ian Sacks there's a difference between jewelry designed for stones and adding stones to any given piece of jewelry someone wants to dress up which is obviously what you're referring to. I design and cast custom pieces. My bulk comes from scrap and i can tell you I've NEVER pulled a fake diamond using that method. You did answer my question, if you're setting stones without drilling than I'm assuming they haven't been bringing you pieces with stones popping out.

Not to breathe- for cleaning. And it is the wearer’s choice, and smith catering to multiple options for the customers. For tiny micro pave setting it is impossible to allow a pilot hole underneath for cleaning.
@EJguitar1
@EJguitar1 2 жыл бұрын
@Ian Sacks lol- we set many stones in all pave and side by side settings. Definitely NOT a credible “method” for testing if a Diamond is real without a Diamond/moissanite tester.
