Because in the bay formers it was showing that Optimus was getting extremely sick and tired of Megatron's bullshit and war in general. So much so that we can see him becoming more and more violent and full of rage as the movies progressed. Like in his rage in dark of the moon, and overall anger in Age of Extinction against the humans after they betrayed him and his kind. Can't blame him really, fighting almost all of your life, only to lose almost everyone he cared about and loved as well as his own planet, his home, and then have the people you fought alongside with turn on you after you sacrificed so much for them. He becomes more ruthless because he's very, VERY tired of everyone's bullshit, so much so that he almost loses all hope and forgets who he is, which is revealed when he asks Cade how many more of his kind must be sacrificed to atone for the human's mistakes. Can't imagine the PTSD and nightmares Optimus has
