It sounds identical to a tube amp except for the lack of bottom end. If you can live with that, it's perfect. People think this is new tech but it really isn't. It's going backwards to the 80s when amps like the Lead 100 were making the rounds. Nothing like good old technology making a comeback.

My friend had one, with an Orange PPC412, and brought it over to jam with a drummer, bass, and another guitar (me). I used my Marshall JCM2000, into an Orange PPC212OB. The Orange Crush sounded great, until everyone kicked in, then it was so lost in the mix that it was useless. My Marshall's power amp on 4, just dominated the Orange Crush at almost 3/4 of it's volume. It was almost comical top hear his rhythm parts get completely drown out by my solo's, with zero volume boost. I almost wanted to drop volume for the leads/solo's, because I couldn't hear him over the bass and drummer. Moral of the story, he took it back for a 6505+ 112, which was only a $100 more. That little devil keeps up just fine. It fine for solo play, but it is just horrible with a band.

Solid state and digital have DEFINITELY both "arrived". I don't fire up my tube amps during summer here (Texas) because they're space-heaters, and in July etc, it's hard enough to keep a house cool sufficiently not to die, lol. Especially since I started discovering that a track recorded via a solid state amp really doesn't sound very different to a tube amp, once it's buried in the context of the rest of the mix. Orange have done great on this. Now I want one, lol. Great toneage, good demo.

I crank my master volume to the left and use the volume on each channel. I also run a BOSS 7 band EQ into a BOSS DD3 Delay through my effects loop and my Super Crush sounds ferocious! The EQ is the key for my sound. This is a first for me using an eq in the effects loop. Sounds like a hotrodded and super modified high gain tube amp. I've played through a modded JCM800 and a few Mesa Boogie amps so the comparison is from actual experience. I'm going to try a Tube Screamer through the dirty channel next.

I just got this amp and it’s my first amp! Would you suggest a Eq pedal? I only have a boss sd-1 right now and it sounds good for adding a boost for the leads. Still a little grain-ee at times
@roosterj2599
@roosterj2599 Жыл бұрын
@@jdmp1192 I absolutely suggest a 7 band or more EQ. It doesn't add gain. It shapes the already high gain that the amp already has. You can suck out the mids for the Thrash sound or add miss for the Megadeth and Slayer sound. I may go to a 10 band MXR EQ pedal. If it sound this good with 7, 10 has got to be better. Lol! I don't even need an OD pedal. I'd like to try a Tube Screamer as I've heard it makes a huge difference, but in my experience so far my Boss 7 band EQ makes the dirt channel on my Super Crush sound like I'm running a badass distortion pedal on 11. Make sure you run it through your FX loop for the absolute best results.

Just some honest feedback: I think you have too much gain going on here, the amp sounds fuzzy as hell. All the other demos I heard sounded a lot tighter and more aggressive/punchy. I'm thinking about buying the amp myself and have to try it out in person first; if it behaves anything like a tube amp try setting the distortion lower so it's just on the edge of breakup and then boost it with a Drive pedal for a boost :)

@@0megalul309 I disagree. I have one and just played through it in a live setting with my band last night. A lot different than my 4x10 Fender Hot Rod DeVille. Have to make some adjustments, but to me, this amp sounds killer man. I use a tubescreamer to tighten it up a bit.

They sound better than any other ss amp, but still lack the bottom end tone of a valve amp, especially playing solos. To me they still just sound like a miked up ss practice amp, side by side with a valve amp the difference is very noticeable. Reminds me of a muddy fuzz pedal, each to their own taste though, cheers.

No, not really. I'm not old nor do I even like blues. But it would be nice to hear if the amp can do a decent clean, a decent edge of break up and a decent overdrive, or hear how it sounds with different overdrive and distortion pedals, because believe it or not, some of us ( and apparently none of the commenters above ) have actual talent and can play genres other than nu metal ( not that there's anything wrong with playing metal ) An amp that has a more diverse pallette of sounds goes a long way with a musician that has diverse influences ( I play and listen to everything from U2 to Eric Johnson to fusion , experimental sounds and even classical ) But you guys can stick to drop D and playing the few barre chords you can almost barely play.
@tankdarla637
@tankdarla637 2 жыл бұрын
@@joesmith8398 I hear what your saying about decent clean and edge of break up and taking pedals, but it seems to me that so many videos do do that which is cool, however, many leave out the modern or high gain samples. Fortunately there is a million videos on most gear so I can almost always find what I want to hear. Lately I pretty much only play metal of all types because it is super fun, I play to have fun! I use to play classic rock and all that but it got boring compared to metal. I have been playing off and on since 1982. Lately though I just like playing Pink Floyd, Metal, and trying to learn real country not the new crap. Too me almost every amp I have had has done clean and edge of break up pretty damn easily and with decent tone, I find them tones easy to get or maybe I am just easily satisfied in that area. Not many amps do metal very well right out of the box unless they are "metal" amps...
