Heyo! Appreciate this feedback. This video is not meant to teach how the game plays, it was intended as a conceptual introduction to the game as a primer for the detailed guides that are to follow. Perhaps we should have waited for those to be completed before posting this. Feedback received. Silly question, but I’m guessing this game is more an experience rather than “I had the most points so I win”, is that correct? Is it really a “game” then if there’s no overall objective? Not that I’m saying that’s a bad thing, I’m just still trying to understand what this ~is~ lol

I'm really curious as to the reasoning behind the Flicker mechanic. Drawing a basic shape seems out of place to me, and unless I'm missing something, I would think there are better ways to track the same level of growth.

ZOMG this was such a helpful video! I really wish there weren't so many ambiguous keywords, like "spirit fire" for dice, "resolve" for actions, "flicker" for experience, "spark" for deck. I'm really looking forward to the "challenges" video, as it seems like this is the core gameplay mechanic that we'll be devoting so much time to. Hopefully it will also explain how a "negotiation" spread will be different than a "logic" spread, or how either would be significantly different than a "combat" spread.

It's a high thematic game, words serve the immersion and the story telling. Simply say dice or cards is not appropriate. Even for a presentation video we need to understand the theme.

The amount of gorgeous components has me concerned what the price tag will be 😅 Also I’ve never played a primarily solo board game so I’m unsure on that front… I have endless video games for solo time. “Board games are for social time” will be hard to overcome i feel Bold project! Good luck and I will be staying tuned ❤

This looks very inviting to start playing. As I understand you can build up your character, but can you die as well ? If you come to end of a realm, are you able to enter this realm again ?

Somehow this reminds me of Etherfields (sorry for comparison). Etherfields seemed so exiting and actually was, but after I've played through all the content I've realised that this game had no actual depth mechanics-wise (or was very poorly playtested). I mean deckbuilding there is practically poinless (just grab the best cards and you're good to go, and basically any deck was about just the same), dreams are one-shot escape rooms with zero replayability and so on. In any case what Awaken Realms promised was not what we got. I'm saying this because now I'm very cautious with such kind of games and with BIG promises of wonders. I don't believe in promises of cool things, but want to see actual playthroughs (and not just the first 1% of the game, like prologue, but what the gamestate will look like further in the game). Spirit Fire seems very-very interesting and I'm excited, don't get me wrong! But at the same time I've got lots of questions. How replayable the realms will be? Will there be actual incentive to go back to them once you've explored them? Won't puzzles (challenges) be one-shots or become samey after several times? How really assymetric will we be able to build our characters? and so on.. please show us examples=) You've also mentions releasing Realms separately, so this means to me that the game relies heavily on new content to be replayable, which also means the the core engine isn't able to provide replayability. From my perspective only games without build-in variability and replayability really require tons of expansions and new content. I sencerely hope I'm wrong here, but these're my thoughts from the experience with other games. I'm really excited about this game, sorry for my concerns=)

As a big O-Neb fan, I was so looking forward to SF, but after watching the first few videos and scrolling through KS i began to realize, it's probably not for me. It looks really gorgeous, but also quite fiddly and solitairy and just doesn't suit my playing preference. I'm sure there are lots of gamers out there, that will enjoy it, though. FOMO is a bitch, but I think I might skip this one :/
@kirillkrymskiy1739

@@wachiroski My first thought after I've scrolled through the campaign page was "their approach to advertise their game is a mess". There's everything but how this game is actually played=) Then I've remembered Earthborn Rangers game, where there're lots of videos, even playthroughs, but after watching them I had no clue how this game plays=)) Only after watching Mike from One-stop-coop I've got better understanding. Very same feeling here. But from what I understand, mechanically Spirit Fire is hand/deck managment exactly like Etherfields and Earthborn Rangers. Then it's also some kind of CYOA with probably branching paths and everything is resolved via Challenges (mini-games). Traverse machanic of the realms doesn't matter, because in the end you "explore" some point of interest, there's some flavor text and probably several options which lead to different challenges (sort of resolution machanic). Then you play your cards and win/fail, gain new cards, etc. For me there's potential issue of sameyness in resolving the challenges. Then what happens once you've completed all your quests and explored all options in realms? I doubt this game will stand a second playthough, because for now it seems to be more about exploration. I found deck/hand managment in Etherfields became very samey pretty quickly, even it was very fun for a while. And another question - how much time does it take to complete the game? They don't list this anywhere, though this's very important. Doesn't mean this will be a bad game. But I hate to do all this guessing when THEY should have showed us how their game is played in the first place. I appreciate a straigh-up approach of the companies with rules, how to play and playthroughs on the campaign page on day one. What ON are doing is some messy advertisement and fomoing. If it wasn't for ON, this kind of campaign probably won't have a chance. Again this's just my opinion, take it for what you will=)))

I am unfamiliar with any of your previous games, so not sure if that knowledge would help explain anything. My questions is what happens at the end, when you open the black box and finish. Can you play again? Do you need to purchase a new end box? And also, how expensive will the additional world boxes be? Are they going to come it throughout the campaign, so they can be added to the bundle?

I love the fact that it is primary a solo game, to few of those imho, but still has easy opt in/out mp experience. However, I wonder about replayability? What happens when you have finished the main quest, and how does a 2nd game play work?

This is looking great! I would love to learn a little more about the story and how that works. It's not linear, but is there a storybook of sorts or some other form of written out narrative, or is it all just emergent storytelling from the actions you take? I have not seen a lot of text on the components in the video yet.

I watched the whole thing and also other videos where people try to explain the game. Also watched the live stream now. It kind of feels like when someone tries to explain a pyramid scheme or a cult. There's some concepts and some key phrases being thrown out without much substance or coherence. So far the most I managed to gather is this is a game about feelings where you solve puzzles with your emotions.

@@manomano30 Haha right?!? Here is an example (and I don't mean this as a slide because I respect the effort to engage with the community)... In the livestream, when asked about replayability Mark answered and said, "In the game you're going to progress your character. And your character starts with a certain amount of Spark of Life, which is kind of like your internal spark. When that spark of life runs out you'll open a mystery box that kind of takes that story to a crescendo and finishes or concludes that character's story..." He went on to answer that question, but I just had to laugh because while that initial summary surely made sense to everyone sitting in that room, it creates more questions than answers for me. They are hesitant to put out gameplay videos because it's still in development and don't want to spoil things. And they can't furnish a rulebook because many of the rules are incorporated within the actions of the game (reminds me of TMB where there are minigames and rules to the rules). I get all that, but it means we have no idea how the system works. On top of all that, they've stated this is their heaviest game yet. I think that implies it will be deep, but everything seems to be going down that path of this experience being very fiddly

Hmmmmm... intriguing but I currently much prefer objective based games over narrative driven adventures. Perhaps it just takes the right one to fall in love with. Perhaps this is it. It's almost like Orange Neb listened to unimaginative moaners complaining that Vindication was a cube pusher with no story and made this just for them. How can you not make up a story in your head while playing vindication? I didn't think much of King's Dilemma as a game but was a fun social activity over zoom during the retconned years. A True Detective style one might be good, with ritualistic murders and burdensome character flaws. Well for now we shall await more Spirit Fire videos in an attempt to synchronise the future. Color me intrigued. But... No combat? Your other video said this was a journey of discovery of myself. Your character box is who you are, this one said. But what if I am a warrior? I'm more a fighter than a lover. I already feel a bit left out. These realms also have dangerous creatures, yeah? So... I have to run or hide? Or use diplomacy? It doesn't sound very open world if my ways of interacting are limited. But I am trying to keep an open attitude.

To assume combat or aggression is not part of nature is missing half the puzzle. Personally, I wouldn't choose a combat path but to leave it out seems unnatural. There doesn't necessarily need to be combat mechanics but at the very least aggressive tendencies and choices. My fear is that I will be tied to making choices that I wouldn't naturally agree with. I am also not a fan of the 7th Continent Life Deck, which seems to be replicated here. We always focused more on hunting and fishing to replenish it, more than I felt the game required, leading us to miss more of the fun journey through the land. I am intrigued though and think this is a neat path that I hope to see more designers follow.

From the gist of this video: It is a 1 to 3 player, multi-world, non-combat rpg focused on exploration both world and the self, with deck building. btw drop in drop out isn't a unique gimmick to your board game. You'll find many board games have this option. You want examples? Vampire: The Heritage. Monster Hunter World: The Boardgame. Gloom Haven. Cards Against Humanity. This War Of Mine, the boardgame. I could list more, but you should get the point. Your game is not unique because people can join and leave whenever. Such blatant false advertising right there. Court-worthy liability there.

I have to admit I'm quite disappointed. Sorry Orange Nebula. I went full-in on all your games on KS so far and do so usually without a second thought but I don't get this "game". I don't care about solo experiences or "connecting" with the game world - I want to connect with my friends playing games. This seems more like interactive fiction or so where every one does their own thing. It's like every one is reading a book but in the same room. I really hope I'm wrong but everything I've seen so far points in that direction unfortunately.
