Must be nice to have an extra set of hands! When covering alone it can be a bit more challenging. Love the product.
@sideshowbob52374 жыл бұрын
Did you take the covering off before you cut it!? People will try to iron it on without removing the covering.
@sideshowbob52374 жыл бұрын
The easiest and safest way to trim the second side is to use sharp scissors - which can be pushed along like a blade but with zero chance of cutting the first side skin.

Can you lay another color on top of that layer? If you were doing a starburst? Or would painting be better?
@balsausaairplanes65665 жыл бұрын
Eric Rivest I suppose you could, but if it were me I would probably just paint it
@thundercity3115 жыл бұрын
You did a beautiful job there. Especially on the scallops. Can you tell me what colour (OK color) you used? I think that would look nice on my Flair Puppeteer.
@balsausaairplanes65665 жыл бұрын
thundercity311 the Paint color was honestly a really old can that just happened to be right there in the shelf lol. Can was probably 20 or more years old. That brand isn’t even available anymore lol
@balsausaairplanes65665 жыл бұрын
We also carry Oratex is Fokker Red which would be very close to the color we sprayed it with.
@thundercity3115 жыл бұрын
@@balsausaairplanes6566 Sorry, I meant the color of the blue covering? I think it is available in Corsair blue and "bluewater" and I would guess you used bluewater? Good to know it can be painted over with normal auto-shop "rattle can" paint.

Does the boss know how much material you wasted in this video? The stuff ain't cheap but then you guys get it a lot cheaper than we do. :-)

Are we going to see a 1/6th Fokker DR1 release?!!!!! That certainly looked like a bottom wing to the tripe. : )

If Anybody is interested in the Oratex6000 for covering Full-scale ("Real Airplanes"), manned aircraft: As always, like every year, we will be in Oshkosh at EAA Airventure (2019) with our booth #300 near the Control Tower. Right beside Hangar A. Right on the main road that passes in front of the tower. We will be covering an airplane there again and so we can teach what to do and what not to do at all; non-stop during the whole week. We will also display several Oratex airplanes at the booth, aside of those that show up in Oshkosh anyway...(like the ones competing at the STOL competition !)

I dont want to paint. Can I add another colr Oratex over the base covering as trim? And will it hold? I remember it was difficult to do that with Solartex.
@balsausaairplanes65662 жыл бұрын
yes sir you can, what I would do is put some other glue down on it to make sure it stays down good.
@wms77952 жыл бұрын
@@balsausaairplanes6566 what glue do you recommend??? I have never used this ORATEX material... I may want to use different colors and they will overlap and want to be sure they stuck.. So I am not sure what glue to use??? Thank you in advance...
@balsausaairplanes65662 жыл бұрын
@@wms7795 You could use something like EKO Bond or even Poly Tac to join seams
@icin4d2 жыл бұрын
With a plank style wing (straight LE) like this, why can't you cover both sides of the wing with one piece? Then you can avoid all that waste trimming the LE and the LE would be seamless.
@Hyprmtr2 жыл бұрын
I been wanting to try what you said. I seen them do it in Chinese factories.

Very Nice Video! - The full scale General Aviation Oratex6000 sold exclusively by BetterAircraftFabric works very different from the RC Model aircraft Product. - Thanks for posting that this is the RC Version and Thus Not usable or intended or approved for any full-scale applications...Not even Experimentals. Best Regards from Alaska!

Do you own the covering company?
@kokokyoushi2 жыл бұрын
Probably so, but BUSA makes a profit on it. Waaaaay too much extra overing beyond the edges. 1.5 - 2 inches is plenty.
@balsausaairplanes65666 ай бұрын
We do not own the covering business, we secured the raw fabric of solartex we bought a couple big rolls
