Undoubtedly, a compilation of some of the best from The KCH. Gotta luv when other recipients and famous people (celebrities sounds aloof here) in the audience sing along, as we all do too. 👏 👏 👏

Being American is kinda the point of these honours. I’m Canadian and wished we did similar honours shows. Juno (our music award) shows aren’t enough.

Bravo ⛵️ I couldn't say it better thx for your shared words... I love this evening so much !!

I suspect that The Kennedy Center Honors hasn’t honored The Beatles because two of the Beatles are no longer alive and Lennon & Harrison were such huge parts of The Beatles (especially Lennon obviously) that they are considering the group as no longer alive. I know they don’t honor solo artists who are no longer alive. McCartney had a solo career after The Beatles, which is why they honored him.

Why was Barbra Streisand the only artist represented by one performance when there were several outstanding performers? Baffled by the exclusion for one of the biggest artists of the last 60 years.
@belindatrousdale48766 ай бұрын
The actual honor of Ms. Streisand can be seen its in entirety on the Kennedy Honors that honors her. This is a little bit of many honor shows put into one.

On second thought, even though he is musically knowledgeable he may not know of 😂some of the singers. That may be why he doesn’t seem excited sometimes?

And what happened to the Kennedy honors honors Dick Van Dyke?
@dorothygale11047 ай бұрын
If you search KZfaq for Kennedy Center Dick Van Dyke there are several videos of the Kennedy Center awards show tgat honored Dick Van Dyke. This video was created by a YT content creator, not the Kennedy Center. So the content creator put the performances they wanted to highlight.

Gwen Stefani is so overrated. I don't think she did anything justice..
@Skye-ef1sm7 ай бұрын
Beyonce is so overrated. She has a pleasant enough voice, but nothing spectacular. Her marketing people are brilliant. Her great looks and skimpy outfits haven't hurt her career. It does show however how mediocrities can rise to such heights especially when they have the right producers. Also shows how the public doesn't recognize excellence from mediocrity because there isn't much of it today and apparently they haven't been exposed to past great singers.

I would bet the ranch that your parents said the same thing about the music you listened to as a teen / young adult. I know my parents didn’t like the music I listened to growing up….Beatles, Stones, Zeppelin, Elton, Chicago, Doobie Brothers, Kravitz, etc. I swore that I would never criticize the music my kids listened to because I didn’t like it when my parents criticized the music I grew up with and the music one grows up with is so personal to a kid. When my kids went to bed I used to watch MTV (when they used to play music videos) just to keep up with what my kids were listening to / watching and I agree with you that much of it was/is mediocre (I’m being polite). Because my daughter thought I was the cool dad on the block because I knew about the music she liked, I had the honor of taking her to see Spice Girls, Backstreet Boys, NSYNC, Britney Spears and other similar acts. “But wouldn’t you rather have your mother take you?” “No, I want my cool daddy to take me”. So, I took her and we created a bond that was based upon what she liked (even though I suffered through those concerts). Today’s biggest acts center on performers and not strictly singers. The dancing, looks, outfits are definitely a big part of what makes Beyonce as big as she is because it is all part of the spectacle that her concerts are. The same goes for Taylor Swift. I’m not particularly keen on her music, although I’m by no means saying her music is bad, but rather, just not my cup of tea. But I came across a TS concert video on YT and it was a spectacle like I had never seen before and it had my full attention. The magnitude of the spectacle that concerts have become and the ability of artists to perform has become the driver of careers with vocal quality not being the sole factor in whether an artist is considered “good”. All in all, every generation has tastes that are unique to that generation with a few artists crossing generations, but not many.
