Haha, spot on. Thank you for doing this! I am on a journey to converge two of my favorite genres, electronica / EDM and orchestral music, and I look forward to using your recipes to make my tracks even better. Thank you!

Dude wha? I LOVE this. I'm a newbie and this is golden. Thank you so much for a wonderful and helpful idea. Exactly what I'm looking for... a recipe!

Folks checking out this preview. I bought the current three available. Definitely worth it. Go and buy, seriously. What an incredible aid to composing music. The notion behind it is glorious, to be able to learn recipes for distinct sounds/themes you want to compose.

This is exactly what's been missing from a lot of my composition courses at ANU. I've learned a lot but this is such a simple and effective format to learn, build and share compositional frameworks. Will definitely be taking a look & also sharing anything I come up with and formalise. 👍

I think the idea of compositional [any genre] recipes is a great, timely idea and might be ideal to help some/many people overcome the "I need _______ to be successful, achieve my goals, etc." rut, temporary mental/creative blocks, etc., as well as a practical approach to training. It might not be to everyone's liking, but kudos to you for your efforts!!!

I'm more interested in Electronic genres honestly but I find this concept fascinating and may have to get in on one of these 30 dollar for a pack sales eventually. I used to play clarinet in woodwind ensemble in college and as I figure out my DAW it would be neat to grab some decent sample libraries and do a bit of orchestral tinkering. But I'd also like some electronic focused producers/composers to take this concept and apply it to that music too. In theory fewer and cheaper instruments would be needed since some synthesizers are incredibly flexible. And instead of random disjointed tips like I find on youtube, having a guide that says "take this synth, load this preset, make these adjustments, then input something like this for the midi notes" would be great. Fusing sound design and music composition lessons into one course.

I found the perspective you provided very interesting and helpful, and I will definitely check out your products on your website. One piece of constructive criticism: this is a channel about music, and it really casts a negative light on your abilities as someone who aims to introduce people to this subject that the video is so incredibly quiet. I had to turn up my monitors all the way just to be able to understand you. Now, imagine if a commercial or something came on and blasted one's ears. That's really not cool.

Yeah I fell into the "sample Library pit and got a bunch of sounds only to realize that the music doesn't write itself and that I need to stop watching compositing /orchestration videos and just start making music and I will after I watch some more of these orchestration recipes videos....I promise.

You perfectly described me: ever-hunting for 'that' library that will transform my playing from monkey to Mozart, obsessively hunting on VI-C for new libraries, and overall, just getting so enamored with the sounds of libraries, rather than in using them to do what I wanted them to do in the first place: write my own music. I also see a worrying trend in the sample library industry: now that every instrument has been sampled over and over again, if they can't sell us on the new hall it was recorded in (Abbey Road anyone?), the new trick is to sell us on pre-baked orchestration (eg, 'Hollywood Opus Orchestrator', 'The Orchestra 2', 'Action Strings 2', 'Symphobia' - all doing the creative aspect of writing music, (rhythmically, melodically or both), and then having the user press a key and pretend it's their own work; it's just 'painting by numbers', and then pretending the numbers weren't there. What I love about your approach, is you're enabling people to do this themselves. I hadn't realized this is what I needed, but it's EXACTLY what I needed! In fact, based on your approach, I plan to go back to 'The Orchestra 2' with a different perspective: by sequentially soloing their orchestrations, I can learn how they created each one, and then write my own, without using their patch. Their patches become recipes, like yours, from which I'll create the meal, but not the meal itself. You haven't cured me completely though: now that you're releasing Volume 2, I will HAVE to buy both volumes, "because I might be a composer, but I'm also a completionist, and there's no point in only having half a thing" ;) Seriously, thank you! :)
