At first when I heard this I hadn't heard any screamo or emoviolence and I thought it was too chaotic for me. But now many months has passed and this album really speaks to me and it's one of my favorites. Thanks Orchid for this masterpiece.

It's the ultimate grower. Sounds like total nonsense at first, but then you give it more and more listens inexplicably despite the fact that it sounded "terrible" the first time and suddenly all the chaos starts to click and you can hear the delicate and finely crafted unconventional melodies and spastic rhythms. Great album.

that's what i love about Screamo; it grows on me overtime. Screamo is way more mature then stereotypes lead to believe, I am glad i found Orchid, city of caterpillar, circle takes the square, and other screamo bands.

I wish I knew how to reply but the guy looking for sake. They were a band from my hometown in Humboldt. They were Japanese hardcore with a violin. One of the first punk bands I got into. I was twelve or eleven. We never described them as emotional hardcore just hardcore.

@@stadtbekannterspieler6442 Not a joke. The way they're playing the riffs is different but the melodies themselves are definitely reminiscent of BM, especially bands in the American BM scene. Vocals not too different from the more punky BM bands out there either (Cobalt for example).

I'm sure I'll get hate for this, but I consider Orchid one of the ORIGINAL Emo bands. Before Emo became all shitty and about your girlfriend braking up with you, before Sleeping With Sirens, Pierce The Veil, Blessthefall, but this is the ORIGINAL, GOOD Emo. Straight to the point, dark and dreary, evil sounding

I agree. Orchid are certainly original for their time, since long before and one of the first that started the movement. On a good note, I don't ever think or considered them at any point emo in anyway? They are PURE LEGIT SCREAMO. I wouldn't even classify this talent near emo, imo. But after a decade emo and screamo came wrapped up together, then got watered down, classified into different categories. Still Orchid is amazing. Cheers!

ORCHID! I really dig this band. This is TRUE LEGIT Screamo! I don't care what anyone says. Not "emo"-screamo / not that metalcore or "core" crap. That all those today copycat hipster band bitches are shitting clones of. I always refer many to this band as an example to what the Screamo genre truly is by this band as an example, to those individuals that constantly rip and bash on actual Screamo. Saying it's not even a true genre. Saying that Screamo is the heavy part of Emo? To me Screamo sounds a bit like Grind ( mainly the vocals), with the exception of not being as overly fast based on bomblasting beats and metal riffs as opposed to grind. Truthfully it actually does sound a like grind.. Sreamo is similar to grindcore metal however, in my opinion. They sound varily identical. However there is no actual inputted metal or riffs it's substituted for speed paced power chords, blast beats and screams/shrieks. Orchid, even toured and opened up for Pig Destroyer!!! Tells you a lot right there. ;-)
