Thank you, John. I took your advice and used your Blend along with Worm Castings and we had no issues whatsoever with aphids and whiteflies on our prune tree. This was the first time ever. Another benefit was the increased fruit production. The most ever. Thank you for this magical approach to pest management. I will be purchasing more Blend for next year.

I have a raised wicking tub vegetable garden with Miracle Grow Organic Potting Mix plus some Sustane 4-6-4, Epsom salt, lime, and sea minerals. I’m also using a water soluble fertilizer high in phosphorus and potash. Early in the season I had an aphid problem that I couldn’t seem to control until I finally got frustrated and blasted the ants that were farming them with a non-organic pesticide spray ... I sprayed the bottoms of the tubs, not the plants. After that, I was able to simply spray what few aphids returned with a water hose and a plethora of beneficial insects took care of the rest. Other than that, I’ve been using organic methods. Now, after several days of heavy rains and 90-100+ degree temperatures, I have a white fly infestation and very few beneficial insects. I’ve been trying to wash the nymphs and eggs off the leaves, but at this point in time, my tomato plants are monstrous and the adult white flies have taken over. It’s too hot to use neem oil. I’d also like to get rid of the ants in my lawn. What would you suggest?
@JohnandBobs
@JohnandBobs 3 жыл бұрын
The protocol in the video is really effective. Use a half pound or so of our Blend topically on the root zone of the tomato. Over the top of the Blend apply 1/2 to 1" thick Worm Gold Plus earth worm castings. Water thoroughly to activate everything and let us know your results. You can purchase Worm Gold Plus on Amazon. @JohnandBobs
@JohnandBobs Жыл бұрын
Use Beneficial Nematodes from Arbico Organics for beetles and other pests/disease. For rust and blackspot use our "Blend" generously (about 3cups per rose). The Beneficial Nematodes work in a complementary way with our Blend and our other products to address most of the problems you list. I use "Sluggo" for amber snails. -John

@JohnandBobs
@JohnandBobs 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, the soil building, organic approach with our Blend and earth worm castings will work on all citrus for whitefly and aphid. The ants are after the waste from the scale. If you get rid of the scale, you'll eradicate the ants. I haven't had success with the earthworm/Blend magic formula for scale. Your use of Neem Oil is probably the best organic treatment in the Spring. It will probably require 2-3 applications during the Spring.

Yes! It will work on dwarf coconut trees, or really any plant or tree. Use good quality earth worm castings, I like to get mine from worm gold plus (you can buy on Amazon). Hello John, I’m enjoying your content. Thank you for the info on seeding in the spring. I had to spot seed some areas so keeping my fingers cross it germinates- I’m hoping I broke the barrier in these spots since I applied pre-emergent. My lawn is now infested with poa annua. Never had this kind of weed issue other than crabgrass. I did apply a pre-emergent and a fertilizer in early April. The NPK of the fertilizer was 16-4-8. I did have a soil text done by the lawn company I have now invested in; I’m still waiting on the results. Is it possible I caused part of this problem with the phosphorus in the fertilizer and watering? I have a cool season grass. I heard that poa can thrive in well fertilized lawns. The lawn company fertilized my lawn last Tuesday. I’m just so annoyed with the amount of poa in my lawn now. Thoughts?
@JohnandBobs
@JohnandBobs 3 жыл бұрын
I don't believe you caused your poa annua with the fertilizer. I like to focus on all things covered in our videos to produce a dense, healthy lawn, which is my favorite way of preventing/defeating poa problems. Pre-emergent is a good way to address poa, but timing is key and I think April is the wrong time. The best timing in my area for maximum effectiveness is early fall (September) and again about mid January - early enough that the seeds haven't gotten very far along in the germination process. I'm not sure your location, but April is too late almost everywhere.
@thurstonr9929

Hello, I’m in Saratoga Spring, NY. I did apply a pre- emergent last fall and because of the crabgrass problem last season, treated again in April when my soil temps hit around 50. Our temps are too cold from Jan-March to apply. Thank you for your reply. Thurston.

Our video you watched contains one of the best organic recipes for preventing/defeating aphid infestations while promoting healthy soil. As covered in the video, apply our 'Blend' on the root zone of the most severely aphid impacted trees/plants and then top the Blend with about 2" of earth worm castings. Another powerful organic solution is to attract beneficials that eat aphid and avoid pesticides that damage and discourage beneficial insects. One of my favorites is white alyssum, a powerful attractant for the best aphid eradicators.

Hello John, We have had a terrible problem with white flies. We live in Madison, MS, which is hot and very humid in the Summer which makes growing healthy plants a challenge. Our soil is very heavy with clay, another challenge. I also have 3 sick evergreen trees (Magnolia) and 2 sick deciduous trees ( Red Maple ). My question is should I start your tree program now in late November or wait until early spring? Also, is the application different for both types of trees. Thank you for your help. We have use your products very successfully on Blueberry bushes and our vegetable garden. I look forward to hearing from you. Valerie Madison, MS
@JohnandBobs
@JohnandBobs 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Madison! I would apply our Soil Optimizer (Optimize) now and then start our formal tree rescue program in early Spring. Since you have such a serious whitefly problem, use our whitefly protocol, be generous with a good quality earth worm casting over our Blend - at least 2" thick. I recommend the same revitalizing treatment for the Magnolia and the Red Maples. The only thing I vary sometimes is quantity of products used, depending on the size of the trees. The more product-the better, but we still want to be very conscious of value (cost). I'm scheduled to visit Madison this coming June for a garden bloggers conference, to include touring of a few notable Madison gardens. I'm looking forward to it. Thank you for your interest and support!

I have a Black Baccara rose in my foundation planting in borderline part/full sun, in clay under garden topsoil in north central NJ zone 7a. It's growing beautifully and produces a good amount of flowers, but gets aphids and white flies every year. As well there's something eating holes in the leaves, but I haven't been able to identify the culprit yet. It might be somethong like a tiny (less than width of my petite pinkie nail) caterpillar that can barely be distinguished in color from the leaves. I've just topdressed the area beneath it with aged manure and started a weekly fish fertilizer foliar spray (2x so far). Do I need to do more? Thanks a lot, I enjoy your videos very much!

You suggest 3 lbs of Blend for a Crape Myrtle but not the trunk size for that much. My multi trunk trees are about 2 inches with 3 trunks. How do you determine the amount?
@JohnandBobs
@JohnandBobs 3 жыл бұрын
My method of determining the amount is not scientific at all. Really, the more the better. It's an issue of value and we try to recommend the least amount that will provide maximum results. My general criteria is 3lbs for small trees and 6lbs for medium and large trees. For Crape Myrtles 3lbs would probably work great and 6lbs would work great also.

Earthworm Castings Blood meal Bone meal You can add some bat guano, but not much, or you'll have an Aphid problem right directly due to too much nitrogen. Even so, that's it, and you won't have a White Fly problem. My sandy-dirt garden sits right next to my neighbors two grapevines not 2 feet away, a cyclone fence is all that separates our yards. Those grapes get thoroughly infested every year, but they don't harm ANYTHING I grow in my garden. It's actually a phenomenon when you see it >>>> clouds of White Flies when I shake the vines that grow in the fence, and even though MANY will land on my grub there's NEVER any damage. God made gardening very EASY if people would just use the organics He made. That said, how bout them FLEA BEETLES, eh? 😊 🇺🇸

However, I can't help myself on this one, I have to respond. Of all the videos we've done there isn't one that is more applicable to the average gardener than this one.
