I didn't talk about the plugin ecosystem, because I couldn't find anything about it online. They only mention it once on their website. fosstodon.org/@thelinuxcast for complaints. Edit: Using the @ and then typing in the page name will create a page link. Thanks to IronPipe on mastodon for pointing this out!

But can it be hosted on docker on a home server? I was just looking into this app couple of days ago since i wanted to ditch Notion for a self hosted alternative, and i'm no expert, but i saw some weir docker config to allow it to use the display in some sorts. Although i'm a total noob, i kinda got the understanding you can host it in a docker container on a computer and give it access to the display of the host machine, rather than it displaying a web app. Could you look into this? I didn't find much about this

So close but some of those limited features are real deal breakers. I may still use it just because it's pretty to write in. and then I'll just copy and paste it into obsidian or and notion. I pretty much usually make things in notion and copied into osbidian because I want to keep my stuff no matter what. I love obsidian but it just takes a lot of maintenance and notion so easy. this one may develop into something great. I sure hope so but right now it's just as you've pointed out and complete. I like your channel by the way. I found this app searched it on KZfaq found you talking about it . "I was like I recognize that guy he usually knows what he's talking about". O what you think of any type ?

I know it's not really the intent, but could you use this in place of a word processor? Does it have a print functionality? I only ask because it makes table creation look super easy and every office suite I've used makes tables a pain to do anything with. If it can't sub for a word processor, then maybe someone could nudge the authors that way.

How is the data stored? How easily could you access it or export elsewhere with or without using the app itself? It's one of the things I love about using Zim wiki is that everything is stored as plain text files.

16:10 huh? it's so weird that you cannot set 2 unlinked views to a linked database. there's a little tab above your list with a + next to it. maybe this way you can add multiple views? I think then it makes sense that it's linked because the view tabs themselves are linked and if you add multiple ones, you can easily refer to the already set views rather than reset them anew every time

@@TheLinuxCast Oh I see, so it allows simple linking between pages. But database relations between grids are apparently not available. Overall the app seems unready for primetime right now. PS you're not a dummy. Thanks for the video.

Promising start to this app, but it's kind of a useless demo without mobile apps, data syncing, user management, or even a web interface.

I dont care for a notion alternative. I just want something like obsidian with the addition of handwriting. There is no software like that that i've seen before though. Neither open source nor proprietary.

@@joshua_lee732 Xournal is probably the best handwritten note taking app, but I wouldn't say it's on the level of obsidian in terms of its ability to link between and organize your notes and create a knowledge base, at least from my experience.

Ничего страшного, что функционал реализован не в полном объеме. Чем больше люди будут пользоваться свободными альтернативами, тем лучше и функциональнее будут становиться эти приложения.

So .. App Flow y is a clone of notion? That is open source? Taking someone else's work and making it free? IE: ... IP theft? Explain to me how this is legitimate.

They are not taking Notion's work (the program would C&D very very fast if that was the case), the developers developed a similar program with the same idea, Ideas cannot be copyrighted or trademarked.

There are some companies trying to add patents on the functionality they provide, and they are the plague... the only reason open source can exist and the wide ecosystem of apps we have is because patents don't work the same here. Overwise we would have just a couple of applications with no alternatives.
