“So yeah, I’ve been suspended - but every night, before I go to bed, I say to myself if I get to live until my eighties, ‘will I ever regret going this hard for Palestine?’ and I won’t,” Taal told the crowd. “While I love all the support and solidarity from faculty, from my comrades, from my peers, please don’t let this become about any one of us. This is about a genocide.”
The suspension is effective immediately, pending a resolution of the underlying conduct action. According to the Cornell Student Code of Conduct, suspended students do not receive credit for their coursework the semester, and class attendance, participation in examinations and utilization of University premises and facilities may be withdrawn.
Students who reside in University housing or are subscribed to a meal plan are given a short grace period to continue using those select University resources, according to the email sent to suspended students, which was obtained by The Sun. The email did not specify the length of the grace period or timeframe for students to vacate.
