During my 2020 lockdown-time I re-bagged and boarded my entire comic book collection and entered every book I own into CLZ. In the year that I've had the CLZ app on my phone it has helped me out a ton! I can't recall all the times it saved me from buying a book I already owned.

Your video on Goal Setting hits on this topic for me. I spent the time in lock down to re-bag and board my entire collection. Inventoried it, put it on a spread sheet created a want list and a REALLY want list, new shelves and now the entire collection is in one area of my home. It was a lot of work but, it has been very satisfying. I highly recommend this to all collectors.

I am about 90% complete on organizing my comics. I went with a straight alphabetical system, and I love how easy it is to find everything now. I must have tried over a dozen different programs and finally settled on a program called comicbase. It had all the feature I needed, barcode support, weekly updates, label printing etc.. The thing that helps me the most are the labels, it allows me to know where the comic should go (actual title of comic), and if it's been added to my database.

Great tips for sure. I also place dividers within boxes to denote series or special key issues that are worth more than a few bucks. It facilitates a quick reference. Yes, it can be tedious work, but it can save you a lot of time looking for them in the future. Thanks for the tips Regie!

For years my collection lingered between bagged and not bagged, stacked or boxed, and boarded or not boarded. No more! And the treasures you find when you go through the whole collection is worth it even if you've already organized them.

Been up to date in CLZ for a while, but recently got everything in identical fresh bags and boards. Now I just need to work on moving from dozens of short boxes to some filing cabinets!

Just finished organizing my collection. Since I'm a records clerk I finally decided to organize my lot. I decided on short boxes since they are easier to movie around. I also purchased index card holders. I was using post-it but they kept falling off. Index card holder works great. Enjoying your context on the channel. Keep it up.

Short boxes all the way. Easier to move, easier fit into small spaces, less likely to weaken in the middle.

Yes sir. Short boxes are great for organizing and don’t take as much toll on the back. I still use a mixture of short boxes in the PC both BCW plastic bins with index cards and cardboard with sticky notes supported by painters tape. 😝😀

Organization, this is such a great topic....I don't have a massive collection but at this point I'm approaching 900 comics. I have them all catalogued in CLZ but that doesn't help me here at home when I want to find something. I have a rough idea where things are but I need to start picking up some long/short boxes and have them labelled so I can find them much easier 😃....I also think it will help with stress, every time I walk into my comic room I get stressed knowing I need to organize it. It doesn't help that my comic room is also my home office - hahaha! Keep up the great content Regie! All the best!

So what you’re saying is that you are playing with comics all the time and not working? 🤷🏾♂️ Bruh, you and me both. Seriously, I think you know this but CLZ has a feature that allows you to assign a bin number or letter to a comic. Once you get those extra bins you can go back and insert that number to make location easier.

I keep the collection VERY organized. In silver/gold, bronze, copper, “00ish-2017” and 2017-present (when I started a pull list), plus a magazine box, a “promo” box, a “preview” bos and a “for sale” box, they’re also separated by marvel/dc/independent. I catalog on League of Comic Geeks, and about to start a Covrprice catalog, as well as a detailed in bag note that explains special details for the issue, green stickers for high dollar books and yellow stickers for key issues. The PC is around 7,000 books as of this note, and all freshly bagged and boarded of course. There is definitely something to be said about having everything in its perfect place!!!

I pride myself in my organisation- full collection on CLZ. Any new comics are added. Any sold are removed. I use ultimate guard resealable bags and boards on every comic that’s not slabbed. I have 9 drawers from an ikea hack. Get 125 comics a drawer. I have a cupboard where I press and I have cleaning equipment too. Having my collection like this mentally cleanses my mind. Never bought the same comic twice unless it was part of a lot.

I also have re-bagged and boarded 75% of my collection and have downloaded CLZ and changed IKEA bookcases to garage storage racks in my comic room. I also looked into Covrprice liked the raw pricing feature. I may move after my 1 year subscription. Spoke to CLZ about raw pricing and as of now they are looking into it but the issue is for them 3rd party data and releasing it to a possible competitor. Catching up on reading and cataloging and filing new comics is a lengthy process. But having a great time! Regie thank you for the great content every week we appreciate you for all the hard work and love you have for the community.

I know where every book I own is located. All my slabs cover my walls. If I don't have a 2nd Raw copy a labeled board goes in the run. Now finding any one box is a feat to behold! I have them stacked nicely 18inches below the ceiling. high DYMO labels out. I use Covrprice for electronic filing and note which box the comic is in. All my boxes are labeled with titles like, ASM or Batman and numbered. In the boxes I have separators labeled with the run or arc. It took me about 1.5 hours to put 270 comics away last night. My biggest issue is listing my collection on Covrprice. I get my pull list logged by Tuesday night. but the 75 boxes of back issues are going to take some time! I've asked my imps for help... but they want a good $25 per hour! No respect for the Dadders!!!

Being organized saves your time, and helps keep you from becoming stressed and aggravated. I have my collection in a google sheet, but looking to transition to a comic database app in the near future.

I do have and appreciate CLZ. Moving recently has definitely sent my collection in disarray. Hoping to reorganize and thin out the collection soon.

Ironically I watched this as I reorganized my long boxes. For me and my 4,000+ collection a simple alphabetical system has always worked well. This also syncs well with CLZ which is invaluable for maintaining organization, tracking multiple copies, and enabling a quick search by a number of factors when preparing for a con or a sale. I do keep my extra copies in separate boxes from my PC to save space.

There are so many ways to organize. It just depends upon one’s desire, commitment and space. For the 400 boxes in the 100k collection in my garage they are grouped based upon title/team and affiliation as best as I can make work. For example, all the bins with Teen Titans, New Team Titans, Team Titans are grouped near all Nightwing bins. Superman titles are grouped with Supergirl. Mutants titles including, X-men, XForce, X factor, etc are grouped. Indies are grouped. For the moment, this is good enough. The personal collection is organized a little different. If you search here on KZfaq you can find those videos. Hope this helps.

Yes I also have been put all my comics in bags and boards. I just like having them in the same size bag and board. I think it looks nice in the long boxes. It’ takes long time because half the time I read them again. Lol. Thanks for the tips Regie. 👍

Organizing is hard at least for me but I lately I definitely see the need for it. I too have bought books I have other copies of and really need to organize so I can keep completing my runs and books.

Great topic, completely agree. I keep my 2k books tracked in the League of Comic Geeks app, so I have it at my fingertips whenever at a store. It also keeps my wish list which I purchase from and which forms my near, mid, and long term goals. Regarding the books themselves, they're all bagged and boarded in BCW plastic boxes organized by title and/or theme, with outer labels on boxes and labeled dividers inside. I like my process but always looking for more tips.

I’m in the midst of bagging and boarding all of my comic books. About half of my comics weren’t in bags and boards and the rest of them have been in the same bags and boards for 30+ years. I haven’t finished because I ran out of supplies, but it does feel good to have made some progress. Plus I found a lot of key issues that I am now going to submit for grading, so that I can sell them.

Love the videos, just got back into collecting. Sold all my comics I collected as a kid in the 80s and 90s around 8 years ago for very cheap and regret it. Live in the east bay and heard you talk about your former LCS crush comics which I am yet to visit. Looking forward to it though. I totally feel the pain of buying the same comic accidentally and talk about no being able to find something...I know earlier this year I bought a Hit Monkey bundle which included multiple copies of #1 and can't figure out where they are at now. :)

I’ve been using Comic Collectorz for many years and, just like many others, I decided to re-catalog my collection. It allowed me the opportunity to rethink how I would like my collection organized. Before the start of the pandemic all my comics were in alphabetical order, now I’ve decided them up by publisher, signed, underground, independent, etc. which makes adding in issues beginning with the letter “A” easier to manage. A great benefit to organizing my collection was A) finding comics I have not read in years and was able to re-experience them and B) I’ve come a long way as a collector and am more informed about my hobby. While re-organizing I would scrutinize each comic and discovered that I have a number of Mark Jewelers, errors, rare variants, and other interesting fun Easter eggs such as interesting ads, letters, and back covers.

I've always tried to be up on my organization. Too many times I searched for a book I knew I had, so I took the time to input my whole collection (25+ long boxes) into CLZ. It's also handy to have at an LCS or con so you know what issues you're missing.

Excel is my friend. Down to one short box not in excel with provenance, purchase price data. Help from bro with all the cataloging. Prepping another CGC shipment. And a CBCS shipment for signed books. But first to my presser/conservation guy. Love the card catalog image. Gen X archaeology. Gen Z don’t know what those are anymore. Any hints on re-bagging and boarding? Still have to do it every few years or are current BCW supplies good to last a while? Thanks for the vid!

Awww the joys of the dewey decimal system. I was wondering if anyone would pickup on that. When I spoke to BCW about two years ago they said bags should be replaced every 3-7 years depending upon environmental conditions. If books are keep in cool temperatures, books are ventilated, etc you can be on the later end of the time period.

I've completed two rounds of reorganizing my comics since we moved here 5 years ago and it has helped tremendously especially in discovering duplicates. The problem is I keep getting new books and the integration process is lengthy.

As noted already, CLZ is the ultimate companion to categorizing a comic collection. I can find any comic by first using the app, noting the box # and then to that alphabetized box to produce my copy! I actually just bought clz last night. I had some Google rewards credit going to waste so figured why not. Handy little app for sure. I've DEFINITELY bought multiple issues of a comic, forgetting I already had it! Then I got clz and input EVERY comic I had into it to never make that mistake again. Lol..my wife usually scans them for me into clz when we are out hunting. The cheap price of clz pays for itself alone in that regard!

I’m a little OCD on the organization side of things. I have my collection in CLZ and a spread sheet and go through those list once a year to update current value. It’s a lot of work but the feeling at the end s well worth it.

Self control, and not compulsive buying and just focusing on big keys with great significance keeps me from loosing control and having more long boxes I know what to do with.. This is how my collection is organized: Excell files with tabs for each title and files for different comic publishers My short boxes are numbered and labeled by comic company I have word document lists of the contents of every box I have a filing cabinet for my current runs that are ongoing. Ahhhhh organization is the key to success

I had my last comprehensive printed list in 1979 for over 30,000 books including grades. I use ComicBase for several years. My collection is alphabetized by DC, Marvel, Independents with separate boxes for Golden Age. My best comics are separate in wooden drawers in binders. I bag and board almost every day. I was up to around 60,000 by 2000. I've sold a lot over the years through CBG, Ebay and at cons. My goal this fall/winter is to better organize my collection as I continually find books I don't remember buying. I also want to update my want list. Your five tips are greatly appreciated.

Cataloging comics on CLZ is easier than you think. I have almost all of collection of 27,000+ comics on the database. Unfortunately some books were left out and I have no idea where they’re located. Like my 2 copies of Ultimate Fallout #4. One day, we’ll be reunited.

I’ve kept my collection fairly organized through the years separating by marvel, DC, image, indies, etc. CLZ helps me with #3 as not to waste money on duplicates I don’t want. I’d go bananas if my collection wasn’t organized but that’s just how I’m hardwired. Good stuff Regie.

I knew I had a problem when I went to put a copy of ASM 566 away and there were already several copies in the box. I found CLZ and I can testify the $15.00 it cost has paid for itself many times over. Now if CLZ could only turn itself on and remind me to check it whenever I see a comic that catches my eye. I'd have saved on the Daredevil 121 I just bought a second copy of!

All good points! Time is money and it's no fun looking for a book for hours. My books are all organized alphabetically and stored on a spreadsheet. Usually I can find a book in seconds because my books are stored on custom shelves in a climate-controlled room away from any sunlight.

I keep a tally of my comics in a notepad on my phone. I update it weekly with all the comics i purchased for the week I still accidentally buy doubles of comics i dont need 😆🤦♂️ I alphabetize my comic collection separated by publisher. Lately i have what i call intake boxes and put my comics in them alphabetized because i figure itll be easier to find room for random comics once then every single month. It gets hard when you have a small series that doesnt have a normal box. My biggest collections are batman, avengers 04-current, and spiderman. I have most of my iron man and captain america stuff back home so the collections are small where i live.

I seem to be a victim of the Mandela (comic book collection) Effect, I swear I had a copy each of Star Wars: Heir to the Empire #1 newsstand and TMNT (mirage) # 4 2nd print…man was I pissed off when I realized I was mistaken. Lol. Cheers for a great show!

Yeah man! We’ve alllll been there with that. I think we sometimes see a book so much that we start to believe that we own it. Or, maybe I go occasionally crazy. 🤷🏾♂️😝

CLZ was a game changer for me. I found a ton of books that I forgot I had, and it definitely helps me streamline my buying
