Even ichika is not pure math rock......... He brings out some jazz, some hip hop and even some midwest emo stuff sometimes. It doesn't have to sound exactly like ichika. Alain has his own style, and this is probably an improv, this adding some of his own chromatic-ish sound to it

This is the kind of stuff Greg Howe plays and played in the 90's but that was way before it caught on like today. He was hot on the scene and part of the Shrapnel Records wave of virtuoso's like Vinnie Moore, Paul Gilbert, etc.

I think he's mainly playing F minor, and probably some pentatonic runs in the same key. The chord progression is quite unique. Someone elsewhere in the comments mentioned C Phrygian. It's the same notes as F minor (Aeolian), and I was about to disagree with them when I realized A) I don't know enough about music theory to be sure, and B) I had already made a prior comment that the first part sounded Latin - which is something Phrygian can do.

The term "Oriental" is obsolete and now considered somewhat offensive and the playing here doesn't sound particularly Oriental, not very exotic sounding just sounds like F minor with a bit of a Spanish flavor maybe with a tinge of Arabic. It would be more like that if you played the Hijaz, F, Gb, A , Bb, C , D, Eb. The runs sound predictable. The thing I like best about it is the chords and rhythm. Sounds like 9/8 so maybe a little Turkish of Romany
