Join Origins host Ray Heiple as he welcomes, Jay Seegert for, “Surprise, the Bible Explains That!” Scientific research continues to unfold the wonders and mysteries of our universe. Fairly often secular scientists are very puzzled and surprised by what they discover. Many of these discoveries just don’t lineup up with their worldview. However, in many of these cases, the Bible actually makes perfect sense of what we see, anticipating these findings thousands of years in advance.

Wow, what great information.... the part about epigenetics makes me curious about my kids and how our experience as their parents, may have affected them. When I was 7.5months pregnant with our first son, my husband was electrocuted at work. (he was dead for over 5 minutes and was left brain injured, although he "recovered.") I immediately went into labor, the doctors were able to medically postpone the birth by 3 weeks, but our son was born almost a month and a half premature. Also, I've always wondered if and how my husband's extremely elevated electricity levels, within his body, have affected our growing children. Very interesting information.
@lazyh-online4839
@lazyh-online4839 5 жыл бұрын
Epigenetics doesn't quite work like that. To begin with your body only carries "higher levels of electricity" while you're being electrocuted, it's not as if ones body maintains "high levels" of electricity after the fact, it's not a substance that can be stored, something has to generate that electricity. Now the experience may be expressed in epigenetic changes that could be passed down to your children but I'd recommend reading a science journal on the subject to learn more about the kind of changes that can be passed down.

Genesis 1:7 is a great insight on the flood. According to this verse, if we could get into a rocket and travel a few billion times the speed of light and not hit anything, we would eventually run into water. That is the great deep Chapter 7:11 "The windows of heaven" might actually be literal.

There's one thing I find interesting about the question "When will Christ return?". There're very few major arguments for those who say He won't return soon (like soon soon) including "People have thought he would return in their time for 2000 years". Then there's at least one so-called prophecy (meaing I only know one, there might be more) about this saying that it would still take quite a long time, but I think this one is not authentic. Anyway there are always a lot of prophecies floating around which cannot be all true. So this is not really a reliable argument and prophecies have to be checked carefully anyway. Then there's the "He could come anytime" argument, but that is overlooking the facts - there's more than one biblical hint about when He will return. And kind of all of them point to 'This train is getting faster'. And whenever I hear somebody talking about this I get new evidence. I didn't notice this one before for example, I just read it like "there will be some heresies" without looking at them strait forwardly. But actually, many heresies depicted in Scripture (even those one might think refer to the past) are alive (again) today. And this is by far not the only evidence.

If you were walking in a jungle and found a working computer just sitting there would you assume that it got there by itself or would it be evidence that someone must have put it there. I also believe that has man's can make mistakes in understanding the Bible. I also believe in the Big Bang and that the Bible also asserts this same super natural event. Genesis 1:1 In the beginning (Time) God created (Energy) the Heavens (Space) and Earth (Matter). I also believe that these two issues are not dependant on heaven or hell. They should do I think, they would have a greater genetic variation from the start, humans only had two. @@faithtruth8036 research shows the genetic diversity of either is too great for a flood event in the time frame suggested by the bible. In addition the animals that show a bottleneck do show it at the same time as humans but only in a specific location hat humans were in at the time, as well as giving geological evidence of volcanic activity being the reason for the bottleneck. None of the evidence support Noah's flood from the time frame, location, or the cause of the bottleneck, nor the population size during said bottleneck.

This would be the same people where one of Noah's Son's took in marriage a woman from the land of Kaanan. The same land that Kain went to when he was banshed by God for killing his brother Able. I'm not saying she was related to Kain. Then God rested on the Seventh day. Then on the eighth day God created Adam In His image. Then Adam maintaned the gareden of Eden and named all the beast and creatures. After, God saw Adam appear sad. So he placed Adam in a deep sleep and took a rib (DNA STAND) from Adam and dust from the earth and created Eve. There was one woman who was saved from the sixth day creation of man in God's likeness. In the beginning human DNA was perfect and in no way corrupted. Sin corrupted the DNA. Seems science is proving that. Things one generation does can effect following generations. It's been a bit problematic for me that my children would be punished for my sins. That said, would it be possible or likely that if children broke from the sins of the father, say smoking, that they would be as harmed by the habit as the father or mother and likewise their children would also be healthier? I think yes, definitely. At least over time the effects of smoking would diminish in future generations.

One thing that science recently discovered but was already known in the Bible is that snakes used to have legs. The Bible gives us a general description of the creation of the universe. Science seeks a detailed description. I love truth so naturally I love the Bible but I also love science. Le'Maitre, the guy who first theorized the big bang, was a Catholic priest who said that he wanted to know the truth and that there were two paths to find it, the Bible and science, he chose both. I am the same way. Science tries to prove or disprove God by looking at the evidence given in nature. Thing is that since God existed before the universe it is either all evidence of God or none of it is. I believe it is all evidence of God.

" Science tries to prove or disprove God by looking at the evidence given in nature." Actually science is not interested in God. God is supernatural, the field of science is the natural world. A conflict is only created (sorry for the pun, I couldn´t resist), if people stick to a literal interpretation of the Bible and deny or ignore facts. I still wonder why this is such a big problem in the US and nowhere else.

The bible is just telling us what God has said about the earth from the very beginning in Genesis 1:1. That doesn't say anything about the beginning of the universe. The Bible tells about the three ages. The first age was destroyed, and in the first age we were spiritual. Read the Old Testament in particular Job. Also, the ethnic races were created on the six day. You are leaving the eight day creation out where God created EthAdam which means a specific man, a man that blushes in the face, and the lineage of which Christ was born. Also, the Bible says that Eve was the mother of all living, and not the mother of all races. Eve is the mother of all living because she is the linage of which Christ would come, and through Christ all can have eternal life. Noah's flood the Bible says that there were two of every seed on that ship, so there would have been on the ship the six day creation. Also, One has to understand that the Bible is about a particular family, and only deals with the ethnic races when they come in to contact with each other. The Bible is a amazing book but it takes study to understand this book, and Christ also says I have told you everything. Why do you not understand? You and I don't understand because we will not take the time to learn the Bible. A Caucasian cannot have a black baby just a black person cannot have a Chinese baby. So, if you are knowledgeable in DNA you should know these things. Our DNA is different Right? The more we study the Bible the more we will know. There are people that are directly related to Jesus Christ, and these are the chosen people which consist of 12 tribes. But the arabic race also has 12 tribes, and the ethnic races also have the Elect just as the chosen ones have the Elect which were chosen in the first age, and justified in the first age. You can read about those that were choses, and justified in different places such as Romans Chapter 8. God Bless.

I've talked to another person who read Genesis 1&2 this way as well. He was very defensive and quite hateful, so I couldn't get much knowledge out of him. But if you don't mind answering I would like to know how you read a few things. Starting with Genesis 2:4 These are the generations of the heavens and the earth when they were created, in the day that the Lord God made the earth and the heavens. It seems to me the Bible is going back over creation in more detail. How do you read that? Continuing on Genesis 2:5-24 Reads to me like it is starting at the beginning of day three. 'When no bush of the field was yet in the land' It also says God had not caused it to rain, but there was a mist watering the whole face of the ground. And there was no 'man' to work the ground. This is just my opinion and could be completely wrong but it reads to me like God planted the earth on day three. And 'created' the Garden in Eden on day 6 after He created Man. Verse 7 says he creates man and he became a living creature. He then causes the garden to 'spring up'(instantly). He places him in Eden to work in the garden, and creates woman from him. I've always read Chapter 2 as a second look. If there were immortal people with souls on the earth before Adam and Eve, why would God create Adam and Eve's to rebel and destroy that? And then save people through their lineage? Or do you think everything was corrupted before Adam and Eve? These are sincere questions if you have time to respond.
@tomjackson3411
@tomjackson3411 4 жыл бұрын
@@alamotte2005 The Bible says the devil rebelled in the first age, and a third of the angels followed him. Just as the devil corrupted the first age he is also trying to do to this age. Adam and Eve were beguiled by the serpent, the devil that old dragon, The devil was trying to destroy the lineage of Adam and Eve of which Christ would come. That happened on several occasions when the angels left the place of habitation Gen 6, and JUde tells about the fallen angels, and from these came the giants. Sometimes people want to argue but the best way for you to make up your mind is to listen to Shepherd's Chapel which teaches all this chapter to chapter verse to verse. You can make up your own mind. I do know that the churches don't teach the Bible, and after you study with Shepherd's Chapel for a while you will realize this. The most important thing is for people to get involved in their Bible and study every day. Why? Because that is how we are spiritually fed, and that is as important as feeding the flesh. God Bless.

There was a single male ancestors more recently than a single female ancestor. More women at the time there was one man that everyone is related to. The Bible, and many other cultures', describe this happening during a global flood. Noah is the "genetic Adam" because all 3 of his sons are related to him. The single female ancestor of the wives of Noah's sons was actual Eve, thus earlier.
@ibperson7765
@ibperson7765 2 жыл бұрын
@@grasonicus Yeah it seems unlikely, although is possible. Certainly Biblically it is: Noah is the single male ancestor but the wives of his sons were all from different ancestors. So Noah would be the last common male ancestor but Eve would be the last common female ancestor. For scientists who don’t believe the Bible, there would still have to be a situation where the kids of some man or woman were the inly ones that survived, but he or she procreated with multiple partners. Odd theory if secular.

Rump[e Stillskin great contribution! Thanks for your comment and the interesting content in it. Wish you had shared more of your view on this so we could understand more of the evidence that points to a contrary strain of events than the arguments explain in this video. 100 years ago, scientists thought the people 200 years ago were stupid and still kinda primitive. They knew how to make planes of cardboard and drained someone of all his blood. Today we know better and see them as ignorant. We laugh at those who “knew” the earth was flat. And in 2230, people will look at our time and they won’t be able to imagine we actually believe some of the things we proudly teach in schools and think we know. The only thing that is actually really evolving... is science itself. We keep discovering things we didn’t understand, only to raise more questions and decades later realize we overlooked critical things back then when we thought we had it all figured out. Understanding that and not living in the illusion that somehow our generation knows it all.. is smart. Having an open perspective and unbiased approach to different theories, is necessary to unravel the real truth. The earth was 2 billion years old a century ago. 1 billion years old 45 years before that. 500 million years old in the 17th centurie and 34 million years old in 1620. Yes in the middle ages it was taught that our planet was several 100-thousands years old. In the last 3 thousand years we’ve discovered fire, domesticating animals, clothing, farming, scripts and alfabets, tables, the wheel, horse-carriages, bikes, electricity, phones, camera’s, cars, planes, medicines, governments, juristrictions, internet, space travel etc. And you think we’ve been here for hundreds of millennia? We should’ve been able to travel to other galaxies by now. It would’ve been credible if we’ve found massive amounts of fossils and skeletons of people and animals and plants. Having thousands of species that are links in evolution, crossing from fish with fins to mammal or bird with half wing or leg. And yet....there’s not even one !! Just small horse, medium horse, large horse. Like there still are today. And everything evolved... but crocodiles..somehow stayed the same. They don’t know how to keep raccoons from stealing and eating their eggs after “millions of years” - but they are somehow not changing. Really... If the Bible was wrong, it would’ve been proven by now. Yet it’s full of facts that science confirms centuries after. One small example before I go: in the Middle Ages the Spanish flu broke out, killing around (I think it was ..) 2-5% of the population. Almost none of the Jews got sick, so the people figured it had to be an evil trick the Jews created to attack the non-Jews. So they kicked them out of the Iberian peninsula. How did the Jews escape this highly contagious pandemic? By listening to God ;) they followed Gods commands from the Bible, so they washed their hands before eating, sleeping and after waking up. After touching the dead. Before preparing food. This may seem very logical to us, but in that time... if you said there were millions of small animals, invisible to the eye, living on your hands - people would think you’re delusional and you’d probably be hanged. People didn’t know anything about bacteria or micro organisms back then. And the Bible is full of scientific facts we’ve only discovered recently. From earth with a clear sky and true darkness, a maximum of around 12.400 stars can be seen with the naked eye. Yet the Bible tells us the stars are more in number than all the grains of sand on all the beaches of earth. Don’t discard something so quickly without actually researching it for yourself dude !
