The Orthotropics KZfaq Channel TeamThis channel is part of the International Association of Facial Growth Guidance. A nonprofit organisation which aims to raise awareness of alternative orthodontic methods and ideas, which too few people are informed of.
The main aim of the platform is to precipitate debate on why teeth are crooked. Most people are not aware that (in most cases) the dental profession has little or no idea why the teeth are crooked, or for that matter why children need major surgery. Clearly there are genetic issues, however the science is clear, the weight of quality research papers, in respected peer reviewed journals, show that our modern lifestyle is a more important factor and most importantly we can do something about this.
This is especially important as sleep apnoea, TMD, forward head posture and a most otolaryngology problems are implicated as other symptoms of the same underlying problem.

What determines your facial features? Both genetics and the environment in which you live, however the hard research suggests that the environment which you live in has a far greater influence than most people imagine.
Which parent determines facial features? Actually the environment in which you live seems far more important. The research suggests that such things as hard foods and good posture seem far more important.
What is the most attractive facial feature? This research suggests that cheek bones are by far the most important facial feature.
What are attractive female facial features? Cheekbones.
This channel also acts as a forum to make openly, speculative suggestions, to find common ground with other professionals (in both related and seemingly unrelated fields), educated lay people and members of the public at large, to either support or detract on the information provided, but either way engage in the scientific process. In the pursuit of the truth it is normal in science to make speculative comments which may not have full scientific support, and we welcome feedback and discussion.
In general, the videos posted on this web site are not advertisements, and will clearly be labelled as such if necessary. Apart from educational books, the association does not sell anything or encourage anyone to have any form of treatment. It does aim to make people think, consider all options, ask questions and become fully informed.
Much of what is discussed on this site is not available from even the registered members, however a list of members is available on the web site, orthotropics.com.
Orthotropics essential means straight or correct growth. If your faces grows well it tends to work well. The concept is based on the Tropic Premise; www.watkinsdentalsurgery.com....
The underlying pathology of malocclusion and the related symptoms is referred to as Craniofacial Dystrophy;
www.nature.com/bdj/journal/v21...
The association feels that it should be possible to prevent or at least minimise the level of craniofacial dystrophy through simple public health measures.

It seems like orthodontics as a discipline has a bad case of not seeing the wood for the trees. If you could either have a pretty face and slightly crooked teeth, or perfect teeth but a plain face, I expect most of the general public would rather be pretty with crooked teeth. A pleasant face and a wide smile is always attractive even if your teeth aren't great. However the orthodontists seem to want perfect teeth at all costs.

It’s not only looks that orthotropics improves but also health. I had braces and extractions as an adult a few years ago and have since then expanded my upper jaw and reopened all 4 extraction spaces. It’s crazy how much better I feel. It affects how I sleep, eat, and think. Working out is crazy easy now compared to how difficult it was becoming while I was undergoing retraction from braces. My tmj also feels way better. I never realized how full my right ear felt before. I thought it was normal for me to hear clicking everytime I swallowed. I feel way more comfortable and healthier now; I feel more confident because of how relaxed I am both physically and mentally. I’ll admit, braces with extractions can create a slimmer face which can sometimes look better, but it’s definitely not worth the sleep apnea and tmj disorder that usually occurs with retraction. Having extractions with braces as an adult can really mess up your health so it must be terrible for people who have had extractions as a child. It’s not something you can fully understand unless you’ve had this done to you. Expansion should be done in all cases. It’s possible in adults so I don’t see why it wouldn’t be possible in children.

Round chubby faces look good on children but an adults face changes. It doesn’t work that the wider the face or the wider the cheek bones is more attractive. It’s all about ratios and harmony. I’d say high cheek bones is important. It’s not a one-size fits all.

Not suggesting you do this, but I stopped wearing my container for years now. My teeth have not been crooked at all and in fact, it's easier to floss. Before my teeth were pretty tight together despite being straight. And no, my teeth haven't eroded...my hygenist said my teeth were healthy recently with no cavities. I was blessed though. I was scared to get extractions as a kid. I still have all 32 teeth. That scare turned out to be such a blessing. My dentist said I would have problems later in life but I don't.

@MegaHux
@MegaHux 4 жыл бұрын
@Eternal w Crusade Depends on many factors - vanity, pain, how easy the practitioner says it is to treat etc. In my own case, I have decided it isn't. Mewing helped cure my TMD and avoid having a splint. Maybe in time it might improve my appearance slightly, but my main interest is in ensuring that my kids never have extractions and fixed appliances. They will have a full set of naturally straight teeth and never need to visit an orthodontist.

@Orthotropics 4 жыл бұрын
Orthotropics uses appliances to gain space and to remind you to have correct tongue posture. Mewing is doing the exercises without any appliances, which is much harder because in order to gain change in your tongue posture 24/7, you will have to train your unconscious muscle memory. It's not something you can do just once in a while, it is about changing the way you eat, breath, talk and swallow, all day and every day.

I mean that's because she was younger. If she grew up without mewing than she would look like a worst version of the after picture. Not saying she grew up to be ugly or anything..

Sweg Boii Good point. I did think the same thing was probably the case, too. I can see how mewing affects the young easier with quicker results; so they are lucky to get to do it so early!

I just found out about mewing, and I have some questions. (Sorry for my english, I'm not a native speaker) 1. I have braces. Is Mewing still effective? What should I do about them? 2. Is putting your tongue on the roof without doing exercises effective? (Less than doing exercises, of course) 3. Am I supposed to be able to breathe when I'm pressing the whole tongue to the roof of the mouth? (Including the root) Thank you♥️

There is the orthotropic premise. That is the theory, tongue posture will affect the alignment of teeth and the features of the faith. That is the only point he wants to get across. These videos are meant to substantiate the claim the theory makes. From a "we need to consume content" purpose I do get what you mean, once you've watched a video you get the point and if you already agree with the statement there is no further point. I think he's working from the ground up, convincing the public is more important than helping the individuals who have already been swayed. John Mew is an old man already and to get all of his points across, all of his studies shown to the public via youtube, this is where he needs to focus. I hope I did not come across as a hater, I'm just explaining what I think to be the rationale. I agree with your comment, but don't mind this form of educational content.

Looks don’t matter. Just be confident and interesting. My friend Atmullahraj is 5’1”, balding and wheelchair-bound but because he has cool hobbies and can speak two different languages he is dating a woman that looks like Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. She is hoping that he will propose to her, but he is unsure because he doesn’t want to settle for less than he deserves.

Wrong. In the real world, I don't care how great of an attitude you have, if you're not physical attractive, you're not gonna attract many people. It's just that a lot of people think how attractive they're gonna be is completely out of their control, that it is purely genetics, which is also a misconception.
