Hello, my dear visitors and subscribers !
This part is dedicated for the final tuning and checking the idle speed of an O.S. FT 120 early Gemini flat twin engine, also, with the oversized 20x8 prop, which was installed only for testing, how the increased flywheel momentum can influence the idle speed. Definitely, much better to watch this video, than to try to explain its content. I can tell you, that its content is really interesting.
Thank you for watching, and have a nice day !

Thank you very much for your comment ! Yes, indeed, this engine shows significant power level. In April's 1980 issue of M.A.N. magazine, during the test, 1.3 bhp was archived, at 10K RPM.

Great video. It would be interesting to see how this first versions behave with the new redesigned carb. 160 first batch gemini also came with earlier os carbs.

Hello, and thank you for your comment ! Newest carb versions from upgraded Gemini II can't be installed on early Gemini, because of the different diameter of the carb part, connected to fuel intake "Y" type manifold.

Sounds awesome. Awesome job once again. Funny i also as a kid remember seeing them in the os catalogue dreaming i could get one while playing with my os max 40. Another great video. Just for curiosity how many engines do you have. Cheers dave.

I sincerely thank you for your high appreciation of my work! Reviews like this motivate me to keep going no matter what the weather is like or how I feel. Thanks again! I wish you a good day, we are waiting for the continuation of the Gemini story, the OS has developed and made many models of flat twins in its time...

I haven't seen one of those in years.

Thank you for your comment ! Yes, indeed, this is 44 years old engine, first was produced in 1979, so it's gradually becoming a collector's item. Anyhow, it's a very nice performer, eye catching and nicely sounding engine, especially for scale models. Thank you !

@@crazyengines88 Yea, I flew radio controlled helicopters in the early 80's and I remember seeing those OS Max Gemini engine's in the RC supply catalogs like the one from Tower Hobbies. When I see the modern radio controlled aircraft, especially helicopters, and systems that they have nowadays on some of the KZfaq videos I've seen it blows my mind thinking about how primitive the stuff was we had back then, yea, it's been 40 years since the time frame I'm talking about, talk about how "time flys by" when you get older, they were right, it sure does, just blink a couple times and 40 years is gone.

@@dukecraig2402 Thank you, I'm really like your philosophical comment ! You're totally right, but some of us, are being stack in the past, in the time, where we're happy or being so primitive to think, that we're happy. I must say honestly, perhaps we are still very adult children, but it is so important for us (me) to work with these "toys". On the other hand, who can tune the engine of a combat drone the way I can, having such invaluable experience with hundreds of engines? The world is moving so fast now, well-functioning, reliable and economical small engines for long-range reconnaissance and stealth drones are in such demand now ... the topic of micro ICE for drones, for weapons of the future, is now only being revived, and on an incredible, unthinkable scale. Trust me... whoever comes first gets the slippers...

@@dukecraig2402 Thank you for your nice comment ! Definitely, I also think so... anyhow, this engine is so nice and very well designed, that I'm really want to learn it more, to observe it, because for me, it's just a pure iconic engine, it's a peace of mechanical art & machinery. This is the way, how things should be done...

@@crazyengines88 Oh yea, I'm absolutely the same way, I fell in love with mechanical device's, engine's in particular, so many years ago and it became all about machines for me ever since. After high school I went into the Army which included being stationed in Germany, about 6 months before getting out I bought a motorcycle, that I wound up bringing home with me, and from that point on it's been motorcycle's in my world, especially building engine's for them. I even had my own shop for a while which I shut down but still run privately from home on the side, mostly building engine's and some transmissions. The past couple of years I've been thinking about getting back into flying RC, I miss the smell of that fuel and after some traumas I unfortunately had to deal with these past few years qI think I'd do me good to get back in touch with something that meant so much to me in my youth, that's why I clicked on this video the moment I saw it, I remember those Gemini engine's from back in those days and wanted to check it out. I was laughing watching it thinking about how back then no one had the kind of money to buy a thermal imaging device and how we'd have had to feel around the engine to see if one cylinder was running hotter than the other, and hope you got it right. Thanks for posting the video, it was good taking a trip back to those days, it's got me thinking even harder about getting back into that world.

That engine is running alot better..also how much run time has it had? ..made a difference to flip the carburettor, does the throttle now open from the top of venturi?
@crazyengines88
@crazyengines88 Жыл бұрын
Thank you for your comment ! Yes, it runs a lot better, agreed. Engine has approx. 4 hours total run time, after rebuild and cleaning and approx. the same run time before, according to my visual evaluation, so was no signs of wear on the cylinder's walls, on the valve's seats, on crankshaft journals, as well, as on conrods caps. So, low run time, I think. Throttle lever was also tuned on 180°, so it still opens under the venturi. It's position was shown in the inserted pictures ("was...and now") during intro section. Thank you and have a nice day !
