Hello, my dear viewers and subscribers ! This is the final test run of the O.S.FT 120 Gemini II flat twin engine. First of all, I decide to install much bigger and heavier prop, MAS 18x6, to support the engine to get higher flywheel momentum, of course, to dive for a better and lower idle.
I also decide to change few pairs of the well known and popular glow plug, also to find the best pair which could better support lowest and stable idle speed. You be the judge of how I managed to get closer to my dream goal.
You can find the most of the answers in this video.
Thank you for watching and have a nice day !

Flew my FT-120 II yesterday afternoon. And man alive did it sound good in flight! Power for days, too, it didn't care that it had an 84" span Spacewalker behind it. LOVES the 15-8-2 prop I fitted to it.

Great news, congratulations! How is it with this propeller (15x8x2), I think it’s very dynamic and reacts immediately to the throttle? Thanks for sharing the news! Have a nice day!

@@crazyengines88 Response is super crisp and the airplane cruises comfortably at 35-40% throttle. At full blast it pulls like a freight train. Pretty sure I am close to unlimited vertical and probably would have it if I switched to a 16-6-2. FT120 II **loves** a 15-8-2.

@@TestECull Thank super news ! unlimited vertical it's so cool, amazing ! Interesting, how its thrust will changed with 16x6x2. What do you think about 16x8 ? Gemini II is very flexible, probably, could easily turn a bit higher pitch.

@@crazyengines88 Thrust would go up with less pitch, but I'd be turning more revs for cruise. I like to prop my 4-strokes to turn around 9,000-9,500RPM static while also providing the airplane a nice, comfortable, stable cruise flight at about 35-40% throttle. I find doing so gives me great fuel economy, great performance, and a superb in-flight sound.

Thank you very much for your comments ! So, you look exactly at the root, and you guessed it for sure - I’m planning this engine for the next release. So, I'm hoping, that it should be sweet running engine ! Thank you !

Gotta love these twins..smooth engines with a great sound..im still hanging to get a saito fg41ts, hopefully this week..and will be doing break in on the dreaded fg60r3 today..hopefully all goes well.. Looking forward to the next video..great work, but surely you can get a great idle while using an engines recommendation of propeller? Dont want too much load on any given engine 😅

Ho, and thank you for your comment ! I understand your concern 🙂, nut should say, that these FT engines can hold normally really huge load. B.t.w., OS manual includes 18x6, 17x6 and 16x6 prop sizes, as recommended, so there wasn't any overload. Also, from the Aprils issue of "Modern Airplane News", on the chapter "Engine review", by Peter Chinn, during engine tests, engine was loaded with 18x8 prop, achieving 5,9-6K RPMs. I should mention, that my result of 7K RPMs with 18x6 MAS prop was higher on 800 RPMs, instead of their test result of 6,2K RPMs, with the similar prop's (18x6 Zinger). Thank you and have a nice day !

What kind of glow plug harness do you use for getting power from the battery to the plug! I need to find a good reliable one for my Enya 80 since the plug is in the front at a angle! Thanks! Also what do you use to power the glow plugs?

Hi, and thank you for your questions ! To be honest, it’s a difficult question, because most of these contacts are not so reliable, some do not hold tight, some can simply turn off due to engine vibration. From my certain experience, I would recommend you to try to use Saito's glow plug's harness. The contacts from Saito are the most successful, in my opinion. They are plates of elastic bronze, with a cut in the middle, with recesses for the central electrode, and covered with a plastic tube to avoid contact with the protruding parts of the engine, hold on quite firmly and are easily attached / released. I can send photos of these contacts by mail, just write to me to my p.m., you will find it in the section "About the channel". For glow plugs power supply I'm using a kind of a battery pack, consists of D-size NiCd accu battery cells, which are soldered in parallel. Mine D size accu cells are 10K mAh each, so the battery pack of 2 cells could easily powers 2 or 3 cylinder engine for a couple of hours of operation.
