The stuff that is put on the okonomiyaki (after the sauces, before the katsuobushi) isn't furikake. It's aonori, basically powdered seaweed.

I really REALLY want to try takoyaki because I love octopus but I'm Deathly allergic to scallions/green onions. Is it possible to ask for a batch without the onions?? I'd literally pay for an entire pan just to be able to get some ;-;

oh mann that's hard! The vendors didn't speak much English, but it could be worth putting it into Google translate and asking! Might be easier at a restaurant versus a food stand since these run on crazy volume for prep!
