Rest in Power, Lee Sun Kyun. You fought well, I hope you find the love and peace you deserved. I'm sorry many people scrutinized and failed you without waiting for the truth and giving you the chance to seek help, shame on them. The investigation regarding his "drug use" accusations were still ongoing yet the police humiliated him and the public mocked him. He passed 3 drug tests and complied with everything. He did not really commit suicide bc of the "drug" accusations. He did it bc his acting career got ruined by the psychopath who released the recordings of the phone calls that revealed he had an affair with the whore who tried to make him do drugs. Bong painted himself into a corner though, and I wonder if he realizes the dilemma he put himself into. When I was in high school and college, all of us hated the guy who got the highest score in the math class -- because the rest of us suffered from the "curve" grading as a result. That means Bong can only go downhill from here. I hope not, but the stats are against him.

The first Korean production I ever saw was "My Mister" starring Lee Sun-kyun. It was the most moving story I'd ever watched, it felt like it almost changed my life. I instantly adored his character in that, paired with IU. That drama is what got me into all other Korean productions. I'm just so happy to see him part of this film that got such high honor here in the US 😊😊

I love how everyone is mostly wearing black, dark blue, or neutral colors, then there's this pink sliver amidst all of them. Edit: well shit, of all the things I have ever commented and this gets over 1k 🤷

I was sure 1917 was going to win. But I saw Parasite a few days before the ceremony and felt it was definitely the best picture. The Academy was 100% correct this time!

The only bad thing is the main male actor wasn’t nominated for the Best Actor category because yeah JP was great but that man showed in his eyes how a happy father can slowly sink into hatred towards the different classes.

agreed. song kangho (the actor who played the father of the poor kim family) is a legend of korean cinema and a best actor nomination would've really honored his work, which was phenomenal in parasite as well.

Watching this again in mid-2021 brought tears not just because of the achievement of this win but also reminding us on one of the last great snapshots of our pre-pandemic life. This is how hopeful we are for the entertainment industry before the pandemic crushes it all.

I was really annoyed because I watched the majority of the Best Picture nominees before the show and the only two I hadn't seen yet were Parasite and Little Women. After Parasite won, I really wanted to see it in the cinema but lockdown happened so I had to wait a while for the Blu Ray to release. When I finally saw it, I was kicking myself for not being able to experience it on the big screen. What a film and well deserving indeed!
