Thank god someone is talking about the direction and cinematography of oshi no ko. Perhaps the most overlooked aspect of the anime last year. Great video man. Discovered you way back when I attempted to do my own analysis of Hyouka and youve created nothing but bangers since then.

When reading the manga a long time ago I questioned how good this arc would be in anime format since it's basically an anime studio adapting a manga about a theater studio adapting a manga, which highly raises complexity. But this 1st episode certainly erased my doubts.

i like your interpretation of the paint scene, but personally, i thought of it more as a battle of ego's and of who could dominate the space more, building on the battle that happens between kana and akane at the end of the arc when they both fully go out, and this would be a way to introduce that concept to the viewer early, also, since this would be one of the first times kana would have someone to have a proper clash of ego's with

Shoshimin episode 1 was bizarre to me. The shots were aesthetically pleasing, but the direction and dialogue felt incoherent.

Haha seems like it but no Oshi no ko season 1 was very much a packed season and they had a tight schedule I believe

The introduction to the play was too long for me. I had to skip it because EVEN though I had just completed season 1, I could not figure out what was going on in the play.
