OSHO and OBAMA - Experiences in an US Jail

OSHO International

9 жыл бұрын

Thirty years ago, the Reagan Administration and local Oregon politicians set out to destroy Osho's alternative commune in Oregon, a commune which provoked both local and national ire.
A key to this destruction was the arrest of OSHO, a contemporary mystic, arrested without warrant and held without bail for twelve days and transported across the US while being held in six separate jails.
Osho shared publicly the shocking details of his illegal incarceration and his experience of seeing thousands of mostly young black males languishing in prison. These incarcerations increased dramatically thereafter fueled by the right wing and their infamous and failed “War on Drugs.”
Thirty years later and for the first time in history a sitting President named Obama once again exposed the cruelty perpetrated on young people in U.S. jails, particularly young black males, echoing and affirming Osho’s earlier language.
What Osho says clearly shows why the writer Tom Robbins called Osho "the most dangerous man since Jesus Christ" [ • OSHO: Tom Robbins Abou... ].
This danger to the status quo is always sensed by the establishment, which then quickly moves to silence these people.
Osho is a mystic and a revolutionary, not in a political sense, but in the sense of a revolution of consciousness, a rebellion against our old ways of living, our own ugly past. He is not promising to deliver hope or illusions but instead offers tools for change with each individual taking responsibility for changing themselves.

Osho was probably the most elevated soul ever visited this planet. He was an enlightened rebel, whose message was just love. And what we did to him. But I know Osho has done enough to direct his people. He is available to his people. His words will be the most important lessons for human beings, soon to realize.

In the early 70s, I was asked to teach what was then the first yoga program at a Federal Prison facility in the United States. Approximately 100 inmates chose to participate in the program which was held twice a week over a period of two years. It was a very profound experience for me. The first thing that struck me was how serious and respectfully each of the inmates took the hatha yoga practice and meditations. Their energy and focus were very strong. Second, was outside the fact these individuals, got caught and were sentenced for their crimes, they were really no different in their dreams and aspirations from you and me. What was different was the abnormal incarceration environment in which they had to navigate their daily lives. In a word, primitive, which in my judgment was society's early interpretation and application of judgment followed by an extended period in hell. This was not a place of penance but rather, punishment, which I believe is not the best deterrent for future crime. The changes I would alternatively propose would include building these facilities into rite of passage communities where they are challenged to find enduring purpose and selfless service for their lives and world. It is worth noting that through this program, several inmates with whom I stayed in touch, continued their practices and became actively involved in the practices of yoga and zen.

well said osho..thats true...jails full of mostly young black people only....why?? so much of youth is wasted in jails...just because someone decided to feel good for a day....billions wasted in war against drugs .. there are better options..much better.

They wanted to humiliate him.... he was a threat to the Establishment, to the Status quo, to the Catholic Church and their belief system, he was a threat to their lifestyle and their way of life as a whole. I personally have never liked any Religion in my life , always thought they were pure rubbish but Osho's view and approach to the needs and humanity''s values seemed to be legit. Hats off to him for confronting such a beast.

From this video it is clear that :This is where Americans are best, learning. They dare to accept and Osho said that with acceptance of your weakness, your weaknesses starts melting on its own. They needed your support to stay in your life.
