Osma. A very brief General D’Armee 2 AAR

In this video I present a very brief after action report (AAR) of a Napoleonic battle set in Spain in 1813 between an allied army of British and Portuguese attacking a division of French outside Osma. The scenario is the first out of the Vitoria Campaign book produced by Reisswitz Press and available from Too Fat Lardies. The rules used are General d’Armee 2 that at time of this video being posted are still not yet available. I’m led to believe the rules should be available within the next two months

Dave Brown is without doubt the best rules writer in the business, and a thoroughly good bloke as well. Credit also to the guys at LSF for the hours and hours of play testing these rules before they are published. 😊

Superb battle report. GDA2 sounds like it has made good improvements. And your troops and terrain look brilliant!

Thanks for a really good bat rep. The rules seemed to work very well and I especially liked the idea of the French changing units at the BUA even though it did go badly for them. Also the repositioning of the artillery seemed very realistic. The layout also looked excellent and the post game summary was very helpful. Thanks again 👍

That was a great bat rep. thank you. Lovely figures and good to see in 28mm. How big was the table please? 6 x 8 ft.? Cheers. I thought that the musketry, artillery and fife music from the neighbours was great! Could you encourage them to play the bagpipes next time?😂

Great batrep, I hope once the rules are released we’ll get to see some game play. Interesting that you turned the situation around. Did the change of nationality alter the balance? Any chance you could elaborate on the reasons for changing the orbats for v2? Is there going to be a balance issue with all the older scenarios?

There are some slight differences in how the Brigade Skirmish Line is created in GdA2. I can’t see any issues with adapting any of the previous scenario books (including the old General d’Brigade) to GdA2. As for the changes to classifications from Veteran to ‘Grenadier’ status, that again is due to the higher thresholds from going from ‘Fresh’ to ‘Worn’ in GdA2 I suspect.

Everybody needs good neighbours. You should ask yours to keep the noise down when you’re recording. Also, you were a bit unfair on the caçadores. At least, I’ve never heard them called cack before.

It would be rude to ask people to stop going about their daily lives to indulge my past time. I’ve heard people butcher my language but also understand that it’s not their first language so try and be understanding. I don’t speak Portuguese, French, Spanish, Italian and know only a little German and Latin, so excuse me if I occasionally foul up in the pronunciations of foreign verbiage. 😏😁

If your neighbours’ daily lives include cannon fire I’d say you were well within your rights to ask for an occasional pause but your forbearance does you credit. My comment fell into the category of humour, at least in my mind, but evidently also fell somewhat short. Apologies.
